President Obama will sign the Department of Defense authorization bill containing the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (aka the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act ) into law on Wednesday.
He will also make remarks on the enactment of the hate crimes law at a ceremony at 4:45 pm on Wednesday at the White House, Towleroad has learned. The commemoration will include a reception in partnership with the David Bohnett Foundation, a major donor to LGBT causes.
