Frustrated by the Ninth Circuit Court's stay of Judge Walker's Prop 8 ruling, activists are planning a rally tonight at 6 pm at Santa Monica Blvd. and San Vicente Blvd. to protest the delay in allowing same-sex couples to marry in California.
Write the organizers: "Although Judge Walker's decision was a victory for Prop 8 opponents, the fight is NOT over. Do not let that victorious feeling make you complacent! Let it be known that we will remain vigilant and active until marriage equality is restored in California!
Thursday was the day that many were planning on getting married. Please join us at Santa Monica and San Vicente in West Hollywood for a rally to show your support for marriage equality. We know you can all mobilize a lot of bodies- we've seen you do it!
We'll see YOU there!"
Said Arturo Sernas, a Los Angeles-based gay rights activist, to L.A. Weekly: "There's a sense of frustration for why people can't get married this week. There was supposed to be a celebration tonight."
