Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) has been selected as the new chair of the DNC:
"President Obama selected Ms. Wasserman Schultz as his choice to succeed Tim Kaine, who announced earlier Tuesday that he intended to run for Senate in Virginia. The decision was being discussed in a conference call with members of the Democratic National Committee on Tuesday evening, officials said, and was expected to be announced soon. She would be the first woman to serve as the permanent head of the committee…Ms. Wasserman Schultz, 44, is known for her strong fund-raising abilities, party officials said, and would become one of the few high-profile woman surrogates on television for the president. She first gained national attention during the Florida recount in 2000, when she was a state legislator, and has been a rising figure in the party over the last decade."
