A soft new ad from New Yorkers United for Marriage, the coalition of five LGBT advocacy groups working for marriage equality in New York, is set to begin airing statewide tomorrow. It coincides with the launch of their website.
Says the ad:
Jo-Ann Shain: Mary Jo and I have a very committed and loving relationship.
Mary Jo Kennedy: We've been together 29 years.
Jo-Ann Shain: And we've shared everything. Our home, our lives.
Mary Jo Kennedy: We get sick we take care of each other.
Jo-Ann Shain: We're just in it for the long run and we have a deep commitment to each other. Well the wedding vows are so important, “in sickness and in health,” “til death do us part,” we've been living those vows for our entire relationship. At this point, we just want to say, “I do.”
Watch the ad, AFTER THE JUMP…
I can already make the vow to my partner if I so choose. I want my rights as an equal citizen. Isn't that what we should be demanding?
New Yorkers United for Marriage is made up of The Empire State Pride Agenda, Freedom to Marry, Human Rights Campaign, Marriage Equality New York, and the Log Cabin Republicans.
