Congrats to gay couple Ron Margolin and Lynn McKinney! They've been together more than three decades, and on November 5th, Stephanie Chafee, Rhode Island's First Lady, will officiate at their civil union ceremony in Newport.
According to ABC6:
Lynn McKinney and Ron Margolin first asked Gov. Lincoln Chafee to officiate at their Nov. 5 ceremony in Newport, but he plans to be in Israel for an economic development trip.
… McKinney says the Chafees are long-time advocates for the gay and lesbian community. Stephanie Chafee was 1 of the first nurses in Rhode Island to work with AIDS patients.
RI's Governor Lincoln Chafee has expressed support for marriage equality before, but has been unable to persuade his state's more socially conservative senate.
