This morning we reported that a Pennsylvania court was set to hear oral arguments in a lawsuit filed by Governor Tom Corbett's Health Department against Montgomery County Register of Wills D. Bruce Hanes, with regard to the 164 same-sex marriage licenses Hanes has handed out since July.
The judge in the case now says he'll rule quickly, the AP reports:
Commonwealth Court Judge Dan Pellegrini did not signal what direction he might rule as lawyers debated the actions of Bruce Hanes, who issues licenses in suburban Philadelphia. Arguments lasted over an hour, with lawyers for Gov. Tom Corbett's administration saying Hanes' decision is not allowed under state law.
The lawyer for Montgomery County, where Hanes works, says the court can tailor its decision in a way that won't create chaos.
