On last night's (Monday's) Late Show, David Letterman appeared for the first time since the death of Robin Williams. Letterman delivered a touching tribute to the late comedian.
It begins with anecdotes of Williams' early comedy days, when Letterman and his peers were green with envy over his comedy chops. Letterman continues describing working professionally with Williams, especially how gracious and kind the actor was — he was easy to talk to on TV, and he would always help his friends, getting Letterman a role on Mork and Mindy sheerly out of kindness.
Letterman was shocked and saddened over Williams' passing. As Gossip Cop notes, Letterman said:
Beyond being a very talented man and a good friend and a gentleman, I'm sorry, like everybody else, I had no idea that the man was in pain, that the man was suffering… What a guy.
