Brendan O'Carroll, one of Ireland's biggest TV stars, has released a video in the guise of character Mrs. Brown supporting same-sex marriage, reports The Journal.
Ahead of a referendum on same-sex marriage due to take place on May 22nd, Mrs. Brown shares her views on marriage equality and explains why she will be voting yes.
“Nothing beats the joy and contentment I feel knowing that my son Rory has just as much opportunity for happiness as everybody else's son. And that's all I ask for him, the opportunity.
“When two people love each other, you should allow them to get married. What's all the fecking fuss?”
Mrs. Brown also compares the very vocal opposition to same-sex marriage to hostility towards inter-religious marriage, once a taboo subject in Ireland.
Mrs. Brown's Boys Christmas Special was the most watched TV show last Christmas in Ireland and Britain.
Legendary Irish turkey and former Eurovision contestant Dustin last week joined forces with kid's puppet Bosco to support marriage equality. This year, Eurovision will handily coincide with the May 22nd referendum.
