Trailing tells the story of Steven (above), a young gay man working for a nightmare boss at a struggling NYC consulting firm. Clients include city commissioners and a University of Phoenix student who’s running for class president.
The humor of the series is comparable to Veep‘s political satire, and Girls‘ millennial ennui — not to mention a touch of Broad City’s surreal whimsy.
Also like Girls, the series plays with autobiography — series creator/writer/star Steven Phillips-Horst doesn’t only share a name with Trailing‘s protagonist. Horst used to work for NYC mayor Bill de Blasio. Read more about how the experience inspired him in this interview over at GQ.
