Remember when David Beckham flew his hairdresser Aidan Phelan to Japan on an emergency mission, just so he could fix his highlighted faux-hawk before the 2002 World Cup Quarterfinals? Or when former senator John Edwards revealed he had spent $1,250 in a haircut in 2007? Or when the Sultan of Brunei spent $23,000 on his in 2009?
They are so last decade.
The newest addition to the list is French President François Hollande, satirical newspaper Le Canard Enchaine revealed Wednesday. According to the paper, hairdresser Olivier B., gets paid 9,985 Euros (approximately $11,000) per month to keep Hollande perfectly groomed. He also gets “family benefits,” a “housing allowance” and travels with the President on most of his foreign trips.
Government spokesman Stephane Le Foll has confirmed the story: “I can understand the questions, I can understand that there are judgments,” he said.
