Looking for something to stream while you Netflix and chill? Check out our picks for new additions to streaming services this month below, including Showgirls, Charlie’s Angels and Take Me To The River.
The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993), available on Hulu and Amazon November 1
Halloween may be over, but this pair of creepy, kooky features is always in season. The campy comedy comes fast and furious as Anjelica Huston, Joan Cusack and Christina Ricci give some of their most deliciously deranged performances.
Showgirls (1995), available on Hulu November 1
One of the most important films in the gay cinema canon (sorry, The Boys In the Band), the seminal story of Nomi Malone’s journey from “different places!” to thrusting it at the Stardust hits Hulu this month.
Charlie’s Angels (2000) and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003), available on Hulu November 1
All the ladies who independent, throw your hands up for these perfect little time capsules of early-aughts fashion and flair. Lucy Liu, my girl Drew (Barrymore) and Cameron D(iaz) fight for their destiny as the titular trio of secret agents.
Batman Returns (1992), available on HBO November 1
Part “Express Yourself” Madonna, part “Human Nature” Madonna, has there been a comic book action flick character that makes you want to scream YAS KWEEN more than Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman? Burton’s last Bat flick uses just enough of the campy affectations that Joel Schumacher would later overindulge in. It’s also dark without becoming as joyless as Christopher Nolan’s recent trilogy.
Take Me to the River (2015), available on Netflix November 12
For less casual viewing, cue up this tense drama about a Nebraska family reunion run off the rails. The indie film follows a gay teen from California trying to relate to his midwestern extended family. However, a mysterious incident with a young cousin cast a dark and disturbing shadow over the rest of their time together.
