Johnson Ong Ming, aka DJ Big Kid, has filed a lawsuit challenging Section 377A of Singapore's Penal Code which criminalizes gay sex. Johnson took the action in the wake of India's landmark ruling legalizing gay sex. Both Singapore's and India's statutes were created under British colonial-era rule.

Reuters reports: ‘Under Section 377A of Singapore's Penal Code, a man found to have committed an act of “gross indecency” with another man could be jailed for up to two years, although prosecutions are rare. The law does not apply to homosexual acts between women. “We intend to argue that Section 377A is absurd and arbitrary,” lawyers Suang Wijaya and Eugene Thuraisingam told Reuters in a joint statement, adding that the law is “in violation of human dignity”. Previous legal challenges to overturn the ban have failed, but a top Singapore diplomat called on the gay community to renew legal action against the law a day after India's top court decriminalized gay sex.'
