road.jpg The British Ecstasy guinea pig: 40,000 pills in nine years. "Though the man, who is now 37, stopped taking the drug seven years ago, he still suffers from severe physical and mental health side-effects, including extreme memory problems, paranoia, hallucinations and depression. He also suffers from painful muscle rigidity around his neck and jaw which often prevents him from opening his mouth. The doctors believe many of these symptoms may be permanent."

road.jpg NYPD denies club crackdown was targeting gays: "The Police Department released details last night on 13 arrests relating to drug sales inside clubs, including these charges: At Avalon, a well-known club at 47 West 20th Street, two 23-year-old bartenders sold drugs to undercover detectives; two other bartenders sold the drug Ecstasy to undercover detectives inside another club, Deep, at 16 West 22nd Street. Nine other people were arrested for selling drugs at a third club, Spirit, at 530 West 27th Street."

  1. 40,000 pills in 9 years???

  2. Jimmy -- If anything, this just speaks to the diminishing quality of Ex...the guy probably is having these reactions from overdose of talc powder or sugar. LOL

  4. Now how long until this case makes its way into a FDA report that just one hit of E can cause permanent damage?

  5. Wouldn't you suffer damage from 12 aspirins every day for nine years? I don't know how anyone could survive a month of that much ecstacy, let alone 9 years, which amounts to about $1 million worth of ecstacy, by the way. I would suspect that this person had to be impaired to even agree to do that in the first place. Unfortunately what we really need to know is whether the occasional once a week or month use will cause real lasting damage.

  6. Of course Bloomberg and Frieden were targeting gays. They've been harassing Slide and the Cock for over a year. Can't they leave us alone? This is not Kansas. Or is it?

  7. Maybe they did focus on a few gay clubs-big deal. I think the point to get from this is-don't sell/buy drugs.

  8. ex sucks

you can look at al the dissected monkey brains that they have done of chimps they put on ex.

Their brains turned litteraly to mush with holes in them, and where there was remaining brain matter (non mush) blackened burns

Hey, i am a pot head, and i know if i smoked every day for 9 years straight...i would be f'd up

But ex will destroy your brain

  9. Jimmyboyo,

The study you refer to has been utterly discredited. It turns out the US Government financed scientist in charge of this study screwed up, and gave his monkeys HUGE doses of methamphetamine instead of ecstacy. OOOPS! LOL.

The researcher was forced to publicly retract his study in shame, and the whole incident serves as a prime example of why US government funded research on the effects of recreational drugs should NEVER be taken at face value.

  10. You may remember an hour-long ABC news special a few years ago in which Peter Jennings concluded that there was practically no incidental evidence of ecstacy's danger, considering that millions of people had used it. I tuned in expecting to see a sordid story on the dangers of party drugs and instead got an in-depth study of how it was originally invented to (succesfully) treat post-traumatic stress syndrome among other severe psychological ailments. Pretty shocking for a mainstream TV network. It also mentioned that the animal survey Jimmyboyo mentioned was discredited, but not before the FDA used it to have MDMA declared a schedule 1 controlled substance, classifying it with herion and PCP. As it stands, almost no reliable, clinical information exists on the long term effects of MDMA use, but there is little evidence of real danger connected to it, in and of itself. Combine it with other drugs, however, and you may have a very different story.

  11. I think Aaron's comment on taking 12 aspirin a day is a very good point. I was just reading the other day a little item in Men's Health about painkillers. They listed the painkillers, what each was best at dealing with, and then provided these warnings that if you take more than X mgs of this, you risk kidney failure or your lungs will fall out or some limb will drop off or some such.

My point is, if this guy was taking 12 hits of X per day for that long, the fact that he is still walking around is, to me, more evidence of its safety than it is evidence of its harmfulness.

  12. I'm reminded of an old comment about the long-term meaning of some scientific research -- "Y'know, you put enough of ANYTHING in a rat and it's gonna die."

I can't prove that lots and lots of x is safe -- but 40,000 pills in 9 years? It's surprising he didn't just choke to death.
