Citizen Scolds the President
Things went off topic at a Bush speech today in Charlotte, North Carolina when a man named Harry Taylor got up and gave Bush a piece of his mind:
"I feel like despite your rhetoric, that compassion and common sense have been left far behind during your administration. And I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and grace to be ashamed of yourself...
...What I wanted to say to you is that I — in my lifetime, I have never felt more ashamed of, nor more frightened by my leadership in Washington, including the presidency, by the Senate, and – and I would hope — I feel like despite your rhetoric, that compassion and common sense have been left far behind during your administration, and I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and the grace to be ashamed of yourself inside yourself. And I also want to say I really appreciate the courtesy of allowing me to speak what I’m saying to you right now. That is part of what this country is about."
Head over to Think Progress for the full exchange.
And check out those faces on the women seated next to Mr. Taylor. Priceless.

Thank you, Harry Taylor! You spoke for many of us. Here's a prediction: Mr. Taylor gets audited this year.

It might behoove liberals and progressives in your country to see what legal troubles are unearthed by the Homeland Security re: Mr. Taylor.

Well, I for one am glad that someone finally stood up to W and told him what was on his mind. I for one am embarrassed to be associated with a country whose leader (and I use that term loosely) continually and consistantly has lied about what he was going to do. Remember back when he said that whom ever was responsible for the CIA leak would be fired, well lo-and-be-hold, Carl Rove still has his job, his freedom, and still has the ear of W. Yes, he did let Mr. Taylor contiue with what he was saying, but that is what living in a democracy is supposed to be about. We are Constitutionaly obligated to question our President, our Congress, and those we elect into positions of authority. I also Bravo to Mr. Taylor.
