Here's what I'm listening to now, mid-July. Check 'em out...

Preve's mix is a summer dancefloor fairytale.

Another epic journey with the Boys.

And these are four albums I'm listening to at the moment, Zero 7's latest folk-electronic quilt The Garden, Ulrich Schnauss' ambient EP ...Passing By which is just dreamy, Bob Sinclar's Western Dream which must be a dream since it comes from a Frenchman who was raised in central Paris, and finally the Pet Shop Boys' remix album Fundamentalism which contains some great mixes of the tracks off their latest album Fundamental.

  1. Is that Matty's boyfriend Conor in the banner?

Come to papa, baby. We're feeling very "dirty frat boy" this weekend.

  2. Is it just me, or does the Zero 7 album not sound like a Zero 7 album at all? I was expecting something a bit more, I don't know, atmospheric I guess. Garden feels a bit more uptempo than I'd expect, almost arrestingly so.

I highly recommend the new Thievery Corporation album, too. Jazzy, soulful, with a touch of reggae and breakbeats.

And I can't walk out of Amoeba without buying something random. This week, it's a mashup album entitled "The Best Mashups In The World Ever Are From San Francisco 2", implying that the first album was popular enough to warrant a second one. My guilty favorite: "Neutron Dance" mashed up with 50 Cent.

  3. I have an affinity for pop duos from Scandinavia: Lo-Fi-Fnk are terrific. On the evidence of just two tracks, they are up there with Royksopp in my estimation.

Also, I concur with your recommendation of Ulrike Schnauss: a great choice for summer evenings under the stars.

  5. Great picks, including the surprsingly entertaining Bob Sinclar album. If anyone is interested, you can get the Eric Prydz mix of "1983" at for $1.49 or $1.99, I can't remember.
