Lancebass

Lance Bass gives a "thumbs up" as he arrives for the 13th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. Today, People magazine reports that he and reality TV boyfriend Reichen Lehmkuhl have split for good.

Said Bass: "We broke up last week. But we're really good friends. Nothing bad at all – nothing bad at all to say."

  1. Everyone: I just got word from Bemidji General Hospital and Taxidermy that Leland was admitted for treatment of uncontrollable ennui following news that Reichen may be falling out of the limelight. Keep him in your thoughts. He’ll post again when he’s released.

  2. Why's he always do those stupid hand gestures...so annoying. I dunno...that Leland guy posted a big opinion last time they broke up. Is he really that pressed to do it again?

  3. Was'nt leichen married i remember tha from amazing race. GAy or straight i tend to distrust people who divorce for no particular reason ecspecially after they wer "so in love" and each time they meet someone thats love to. That tells me something about someone's personality

  4. Reichen was married to his Amazing Race partner,Chip, who is a friend of Andy's (Towleroad). Chip has nothing bad to say about Reichen, in fact he said they were good friends on some Reality Show reunion tv show that I saw last year. They weren't legally married, but had some kind of a commitment ceremony. I don't think any kind of a "divorce" was involved being it wasn't a legal marriage.

They don't owe anyone any kind of explanation as to why their relationship failed.

  5. Bryce-

    They do! I say so.

  6. Whoever said in a recent post on a similar article that gay men don't support each other as much as they should was right.

I wish Lance Bass all the best. No, he's not the most attractive gay man on Earth, but I'd gladly keep him in bed any day.

  7. I heard Lance was hooking up with some hot soap opera star now. Poor Reichen! Even if he was using Lance, he was a hell of a lot more invested in the relationship than Lance ever was. Within 5 days, Lance is OVER IT and MOVING ON to the next hottie in WeHo.

  8. Two adult gay men end a relationship under the intense spotlight of the media and this is how we, in small, thier community, react and respond. With insults and derision........
What a sad day for gay couples, and gay men.
You guys are f#&%ing mean, mean, mean.

  9. This report is sad, cause I admit I was a fan of them.

I thought they looked superb together, and felt they were very "generous" of the relationship for the time they dated,..always posing for the cameras and sending a positive and luminous image of a gay couple in love. I enjoyed it :) and I'm quite thankful they did that.

  10. Let's just say that we need more openly gay couples to get publicity like they did.

  11. Let's just say we don't need any more gay fame whores, pardon me, "Visibility Award Winners." [Did you hear that in the house Reichen lost to foreclosure he had a red carpet installed leading from room to room to his bed?] But, why, why, St. Judy, must the meat puppet always be the last to know when Sugar Pop is tired of them? It certainly would appear that Little Ricky hadn't a clue, judging by this video clip

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtaP53seOnE

of him in Atlanta a mere 10 days ago insisting that he and Lance were still the greatest love of all time. Perhaps he got the message when he returned to LA to find his bags filled with all of his ugly clothes and cosmetics, his boxes of unsold books and calendars, and his multiple full-length mirrors on the curb. But what you might ask was all of that "they're over/they're not" folderol in December? True fans of gay celebrity train wrecks remember that Reichen Choo Choo just HATES being alone over the holidays, without so much as a Santa's lap to sit and spin on. After he and Arndt separated in the fall of 2003, pictures appeared of them spending Xmas together, but the tree had barely turned brown by the time Reichen had taken up with yet another. Since his four-year marriage with Arndt ended, he seems to average a new husband about every 12 months. He'd better hurry, though, the shopping days til next Xmas are ticking away. Though, like most hollow bunnies, Easter would seem more his patron holiday.

Why, why, why, Uncle Leland, are you being so mean to such a great gay hero who's done sooooo much for gay liberation? I know. I know. And I will be the first to admit I was wrong, wrong, wrong, when Reichen announces his long-awaited plan to overturn DADT and lead us to the Promised Land while hosting the Mr. Gay competition in Philadelphia in March. Maybe he'll change his name a third time—to "Squirt Parks." He'll probably be the first beauty pageant host with a reputation for wearing less clothes than the contestants. Pack extra lube, girls! We're heading to the City of Brotherly Luv!!!

"There she is; walking on air she is. There she is, Missssss Gay Amer-i-cuhhhhh!!!!!!"

  12. Everytime I see a snap of Lance Bass, I see the Family Guy's Glen Quagmire. Take a look...is it just me?

  13. I can't help but feel that everyone who posts nasty comments about Reichen is truly a bitter queen, something our community has far too many of.

Leland, step to the front of the line. While your posts are clever, the idea that you spend the amount of time you do in crafting them speaks volumes. While I'm sure I'm not alone in being amused by you, I also feel sad for you. Get offline a bit more and try and build a life with someone. You'll see just how difficult it is.

As for Reichen himself, I could care about him any more than I care about Paris Hilton or her STD's. The fact is, I'm not going to sleep with him (or her) for that matter. In fact, he's not my type. I'm guessing you all feel the same by the way you comment. So be it. Why take him down? Why resort back to the nastiness you all probably went through when in High School.

If you want to do some real good, take a stand against this war in Iraq. Take those writing skills and put them to use for something that truly may save some lives.

    That's all.

  14. Barnie, I just have one question. If you care so little about Reichen why is he the one subject that I write about that leads you to reduce me to "a truly bitter queen," suggest I have no life, etc. I have, in fact, frequently condemned, and far more passionately, Iraq and verbally crucified Bush and gay Repugs, Ronald Reagan, McCain, Ann Coulter, as well as James Dobson, D. James Kennedy, and the American Taliban generally [e.g., yesterday's lengthy, crafted, historically informed post about the Haggardites]. I have repeatedly boiled in oil HRC, GLAAD, Coors, Isaiah Washington, the lack of knowledge of our history among too many in our community as well as the overabundance of passivity and political indifference, and, offending the palate of some, I've repeatedly served large helpings of Stuffed Oprah and, one of my favorite dishes, Anderson Cooper Flambee [sorry JT :-)]. With similar passion and polysyllables, I have repeatedly praised GLSEN, the young Soulforce activists, PFLAG, SLDN, Judy Shepard, Frank Kameny, Bishop Gene Robinson, Leonard Matlovich, Billy Bean, gay-affirming works such as the "Forever Blue" episode of "Cold Case" and "Brokeback Mountain" [though perhaps it was my "bitterness" that led me to hurl at Jake's SNL drag], as well as Chad Allen, Rosie and various other out entertainers who contribute more to our community than photo ops. I have even praised Reichen's ex Chip Arndt—because he is every bit the activist that Reichen only claims to be; because, as it were, he walks the talk instead of red carpets. If Reichen had given as much "lip service" to Lance as he has to actual activism they might still be together.

Perhaps you are new to Towleroad and simply unaware of my diverse post subjects history, but you, respectively, know nothing about my life on other roads. In any case, don't be sad. I'm confidant I'm a bit more, however imperfect, than you imagine—and Reichen is a lot less.

    I wish you love.

  15. O hells bells just put a bag over Reichen's head and no one would even remember his name let alone how to pronounce it ---- or care.

    Posted by: Orozco | Jan 30, 2007 11:13:35 AM

  16. Mr. Lehmkuhl represents probably the worst in our charming little gay subculture...he's not really there.

Sorry guys, but as long as "being gay" is reduced to a a guy with a nice body, a handsome face, and a brain that is so small his head rocks in the wind, we need to be reminded that the Reichens of the world aren't the gay population.

  17. Hey Gays and Gals! Did you hear the big news? Liz Taylor and Eddie Fisher have run off leaving poor Debbie Reynolds out in the cold? Can the news get any worse?
