HOLY CRAP - who in their right mind would sing such a ridiculous song!?!? This guy is a totally ignorant fool!
Posted by: Alex | Jan 23, 2007 2:20:40 PM
Please tell me this is just a parody of the ex-gay movement.
Posted by: Ken Anderson | Jan 23, 2007 2:23:31 PM
I think I just crapped fag shit in my pants. Is this foreazzle? Hilarious either way. As a gay man, I hope that is the best they have.
Posted by: otto | Jan 23, 2007 2:25:48 PM
God bless you, YouTube, for giving struggling comic geniuses and raving idiots the exposure they so obviously crave.
Posted by: Quakerjono | Jan 23, 2007 2:28:23 PM
I love that the "god hates fag" video starts and ends with a heart, the symbol of love. Doesn't matter how many songs that guy sings he will still be a fag.
Posted by: Patch Rock | Jan 23, 2007 2:30:15 PM
what a joke that a fat closet case would sing a song about God hating anyone.... he obviously is hiding behind his guitar in public and shoving the mike up his ... in private! pathetic that hateful people work God into their hateful discriminatory ways.. what i cant understand is why gays do not unite and stand up for our rights.... there are soooooooo many of us, we just need to be a united force!
Posted by: jake | Jan 23, 2007 2:34:30 PM
I just want to know if it real-or a dumb (stupid) youtube thing??
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 2:38:07 PM
God does not know hate.
Posted by: M | Jan 23, 2007 2:41:06 PM
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, WTF?!? I guess god hates him.
Youtube=best thing ever!
Posted by: Je | Jan 23, 2007 2:42:02 PM
Yes BTW-it is real. I went to the website it shows in the first few seconds of the video. Scary place.

Kinda catchy... you can insert your word of choice. spics, wops, jigs... you name it

I danced to it, while drinking a martini and having orgy sex with all the nearest male str8/curious dancers. Got a good beat.
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 2:44:53 PM
Does anyone remember that song "Smack My Bitch Up"? Comes to mind...
Seriously, this is the most un-Christian trash I've ever heard. When did Jesus ever say he hated anyone?
Posted by: noah | Jan 23, 2007 2:45:00 PM
Hmmm, the hunky guy in the tight red t-shirt features very prominently in this video. Seems like, SOMEONE doesn't hate fags, whatever God may think of them.
Posted by: BR | Jan 23, 2007 2:48:03 PM
If it weren't so pathetic, I'd laugh. Seriously, the ex-gay movement is pathetic. Jesus is the only man for him? Please, Mary.
Posted by: xavier | Jan 23, 2007 2:48:25 PM
fat, ugly, and in denial ..oh he'll have a very happy life.
Posted by: rob | Jan 23, 2007 2:48:37 PM
I'm not a Theologian, but didn't Jesus say it in the Temple?
Don't kill me here-just asking.
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 2:48:50 PM
When they get this fucking crazy, the wheels start coming off...let's hope the ex-gay movement folks continue to drive themselves into complete insanity.
And frankly, this is a wonderful tool to help bring straights into the equal rights movement -- just tell all those sk8boarding heshers that if the phobes win they'll have to listen to this kind of music all day on their radios and they'll join with us for sure :-)
Posted by: Becks07 | Jan 23, 2007 2:49:40 PM
Scary, he kinda looks like my brother.
He really is pathetic, because you know he's at some bathhouse getting it in every hole once the recording session is over.
I'd like to stick that guitar somewhere it would really hurt him (and not for fun).
Posted by: shane | Jan 23, 2007 2:51:30 PM
WOW. This would be a perfect theme-song for the Phelps cult.
On a lighter note, WTF is up with that facial hair? Someone needs a queer-eye makeover!
Posted by: Aaron | Jan 23, 2007 2:53:54 PM
What the extreme right is the most scared about is what you said BECKS07, people in their teens and early twenties see no problem with gay/bi/les/trg/. It's only the older gents that do. The establishment is frightened by the next two generations when our societie will finally be opened up. (did I spell societie correctly?).
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 2:54:50 PM
Is that for real? I mean on their site they list Cyndi Lauper as a safe band and under gay bands, they have " Morrissey(?questionable?)"
too funny
Posted by: Scott | Jan 23, 2007 2:54:53 PM
That is the most repulsive thing I've seen...this week
Posted by: protogenes | Jan 23, 2007 2:55:34 PM
I bet God hates shitty pop-rock even more.
Posted by: Will | Jan 23, 2007 2:58:41 PM
From the band's website:
"We live not too far from the chemical plants in Baytown and sometimes being so close to that kind of industry creates intense self-reflection, which is what we are all about."
LOL It also apparently creates some curious approaches to mental stability.
Is this thing for real -- I'm really wondering now...
Posted by: Becks07 | Jan 23, 2007 2:59:18 PM
Some of you must agree that Sufjan Stevens under gay bands is simultaneously hilarious and kinda sexy. This guy _has_ to be a joke!
Posted by: RSL | Jan 23, 2007 3:00:22 PM
I liked "I'm On My Knees for Jesus" a lot better. It's from the debut CD "I Found Jesus so I want Sodomy no gayMOREah"
Posted by: Mike | Jan 23, 2007 3:01:02 PM
I am a Christian who is gay..or is that a Gay who is a Christian? He is saying the antonym of Christianity..Hate and Detest. He just made alot of people hate Christianity even more.

well andy (I love you), just made this 'band' a few bucks.
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 3:05:18 PM
I'm pretty sure this is a parody site. I mean, look at the link to safe vs gay bands.
Safe:

Gay:
http://www.lovegodsway.org/GayBands
LOL
Posted by: Mattie | Jan 23, 2007 3:06:43 PM
Totally ironic e-performance art - I'm surprised wired, wise queers aren't the first ones to get the joke!
Posted by: MattGaymon | Jan 23, 2007 3:08:57 PM
I'm leaning towards parody. C'mon the music is so buttery sweet and the lyrics are so ugly. Gotta be parody. I think it's fantastic either way. If it's a joke, it's pretty damn close to the real thing. If it's not, well it's like Phelps himself - great PR for equal rights.
One of the reasons I thought it COULD be for real is the singer's appearance. I've never seen an ex gay who had any sex appeal or charm. It's like ex gay = never got laid anyway. JMHO.
Posted by: mark m | Jan 23, 2007 3:09:48 PM
Funny...
considing he's wearing pink all the way through...

Flame away :-)
Posted by: jimmyboyo | Jan 23, 2007 3:13:55 PM
Hey, aren't those Gucci shoes that he's wearing in the beginning of the video? Please, Mary, you aren't kidding us. And what's up with the lyric, "Righteous man, get on your knees"? I don't this he's telling the guy to get down and pray, if you know what I mean...
Posted by: Josh | Jan 23, 2007 3:14:28 PM
Has to be a joke, doesn't pass the smell test, so to speak.
Posted by: gay is the new straight | Jan 23, 2007 3:16:09 PM
I'm usually the bitch here-but I do think this is a parody site. Str8s could not be that damn funny.
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 3:20:25 PM
I agree with "Gay is the new straight". Reviewing the website reveals that it's either really, really good parody, or the guy's an idiot. I guess calling Oscar Wilde a "reformed homosexual" is apt if you mean his being a broken man after his inprisonment (Which Donnie does not appear to advocate, but does not think is an entirely bad idea.).
I am disappointed that Olivia Newton-John is not listed in the "gay bands" since I think that watching Xanadu made me gay.
Posted by: KJ | Jan 23, 2007 3:28:52 PM
the one nice thinng about him and all the other bible thumping neo-cons out there is that they never seem to realize that if we're fated to burn in hell for our beliefs, our love, our sex and our hearts. Their hatred and pointless indignation will have them sweating to the oldies right next to us.
I'm going to heaven. I'm joining God in his everlasting glory. and if I don't, let's make a pact...
nobody touches this fat, greasy pig for eternity.
Posted by: lexxicuss | Jan 23, 2007 3:31:20 PM
Seems almost like a joke, but played very straight (haaa!). "Help me fight these feelings" does not jive with "only a choice". Odd either way. Kind of creepy-funny. Guy at console is way-hot.
Posted by: Anon | Jan 23, 2007 3:32:45 PM
It must be a parody. Cyndi Lauper is listed as safe music.
Posted by: GM | Jan 23, 2007 3:33:32 PM
FOLKS FOLKS FOLKS--There is nooo waaay this is real. We're being punked. They have it at Gawker too, and there is NO WAY this is for real. I don't know who's behind this (ahem!), but it's a big, big joke.
Posted by: stony_curtis | Jan 23, 2007 3:39:12 PM
Has no one noticed the Psychedelic Furs' reference on their MySpace page?

That was beyond repulsive.
I can't access their sites, were they hacked already?
Posted by: Da | Jan 23, 2007 3:42:49 PM
If it means anything-the website they show start/finish has been shut down as of 20 minutes ago.
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 3:43:01 PM
WOW, internet is crazy (HEHE). Over 50,000 hits the site, and they shut down.
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 3:44:56 PM
Was that a tumbleweed?
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 3:48:09 PM
There's a big fight in the comments over at YouTube on whether or not this is real. I'm not sure, to be honest. What makes me think it's real is the website; usually somewhere on a parody like that there's one link that tells you what the makers really think, lest people get the wrong idea. What makes me think it's fake is the word "hate". Christians never say they hate gay people, and they'd never say God hates anybody either. But it's still really hard to tell.
Posted by: Thor | Jan 23, 2007 3:50:44 PM
PLEASE tell me you guys know this is a joke ...its an indie band
FYI - their website references bands that do not make you gay - Scissor Sisters, Bjork, Cyndi Lauper ....bands that do make you gay include John Mayer
Posted by: jojo | Jan 23, 2007 3:54:01 PM
MY GOD-IT IS A JOKE!!
Thank you for the hits.
Andrew

Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 4:00:00 PM
I don't care if it's a joke or not... it's close enough to be plausible. I think this is absolutely brilliant PR.
By the way, it is indeed clearly a joke. No gay man, closeted or otherwise, would wear that shirt in public.
Posted by: Brian | Jan 23, 2007 4:04:48 PM
Disgusting. Absolutely repulsive. Hey "god", you can keep these disgusting straights to yourself. Yech. Vomit.

it just goes to prove that x-tianity is an organized form of insanity just like nazism or any other hateful ideology.
Posted by: miss dna | Jan 23, 2007 4:19:16 PM
If I had to guess it's body fascists like those of you fixating on calling this fairly adorable cub "fat" that helped drive this poor unfortunate insane and into the arms of the ex-gays.

Actually, Miss DNA, it just goes to show what Christianity is not.
Posted by: KJ | Jan 23, 2007 4:30:42 PM
Do you people seriously believe that this is real?! Wow, any excuse to go into bitchy rant mode, huh?
Posted by: Jordan | Jan 23, 2007 4:31:51 PM
the list of gay bands on www.lovegodsway.com is very funny. Frank Sinatra and The Strokes are listed as "gay bands" where as Cyndi Lauper is listed in "safe bands". It's most def. a joke.
Posted by: quokkaboy | Jan 23, 2007 4:41:56 PM
I love it! I can't get the chorus out of my head. I assume this is a parody, and if it is, hats off to them because it's genious.
Posted by: Patrick | Jan 23, 2007 4:42:15 PM
On second look at the website- this seems totally real. Even funnier. What a loser Donnie is!
Posted by: Patrick | Jan 23, 2007 4:48:24 PM
It's TOTALLY fake, guys. Relax. But hilarious at that! The website's a dead giveaway. I mean, "gay bands to watch out for?" It's fake.
Posted by: Matt | Jan 23, 2007 4:49:06 PM
Fake or real, if you don't like it then flag it as hate speech.
Posted by: Mike | Jan 23, 2007 4:58:38 PM
Boy can carry a tune! lol
Isn't it kind of ironic that some commentors are attacking this guy, by calling him Mary?
Parody, or not, it made me lmao!
Posted by: Seann | Jan 23, 2007 4:58:40 PM
Hilarious.
Posted by: Paul | Jan 23, 2007 4:59:12 PM
That song is one of the most offensive things I have ever heard. I doubt very much that it was done in jest or as a parody.
A few observations:
1. The Oscar Wilde quote is taken out of context, and labelling Wilde as a "reformed homosexual" (as if there is such a thing) is ludicrous. Wilde never stopped being homosexual or engaging in homosexual sex, even after facing trial for sodomy. He'd be horrified to see his words used by Davies and he's rolling in his grave right now.
2. "God Hates a Fag" is one of the most blasphemous and hurtful statements that a so-called "Christian" could make. It's bad enough seeing it on signs carried by the moonbats at Westboro Baptist, but to hear someone sing the words ad nauseum is worse. If "God" hates me because I am gay, then he can suck my ass and go straight to hell. Such a deity is no god; he's a demon.
3. Davies repeats several times that being gay is a "choice". He also asks for help with resisting temptation, etc. I can only assume that Davies is still choosing to be gay, since he's still tempted. Were his sexual orientation a choice, wouldn't it be easy to switch to breederism without those pesky, "unwanted" homosexual urges? This point alone proves to me that Davies' claim of "choice" is self-evidently false - even to himself.
4. Davies' list of "gay bands" is far from exhaustive, but I was pleased to see that many of my favorite artists made it to the list. He says that Morrissey is "questionable". Hey fatboy - Morrissey is gay, too!
I don't call myself a "Christian" because the label has been so corrupted by people like Davies who wouldn't know Jesus if He walked up behind them and kicked them in the ass. The "God Hates" crowd actually despise the Biblical Jesus since he was so tolerant and forgiving. They ignore completely the teachings of love for fellow man, not judging one another and not obsessing over the "sins" of others while ignoring one's own set of "sins".
But I do find inspiration and wisdom in the teachings of Jesus, especially his Sermon on the Mount (which I see as the core of Jesus' ministry and philosophy).
If Davies' god wants to hate me because of an aspect of myself that is an innate part of who and what I am then fine, I hate him right back and oppose him and his followers with every fibre of my being. It is sad that self-hating gays like Davies are out there. It is really hard to watch someone like Davies wallow in their own crapulence. One wonders what Davies' life might have been like had he loved himself enough to accept himself as he is, homosexuality and all.
At the very least I wish that Davies would cease and desist from producing more hate-speech like this song. But so long as hate is profitable (and we all know how much the right-wingers love to hate) he will keep on doing more of the same.
Go to hell, Davies. Just go to hell. And take your stupid song and your silly-ass website with ya.
Posted by: Jonathon | Jan 23, 2007 5:05:10 PM
Jonathan,
Calm down Mary, it's a joke site.
God, we need to lighten up.
Posted by: Mike | Jan 23, 2007 5:13:16 PM
If you have to question whether it is real or not than it is real. Simple as that. You don't get a pass for creating an "inside joke" video. Majority rules.
Posted by: Brad | Jan 23, 2007 5:14:48 PM
Joke or not, it's still repulsive. But what's grating is that giving it attention makes the video go viral and push it youtube top views.
I wish this would happen to *positive* videos that are made within our community: music videos, sketches, shorts celebrating gay love. I dislike how we keep giving a voice to the homophobes to speak to us, or even the heteros, instead of giving center stage to each other.
Posted by: Da | Jan 23, 2007 5:17:30 PM
WOW. I told you guys it was fake 40 lines ago-yet still bitching. I assume this will also be forgotten.
Party on
Andrew
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 5:18:07 PM
Jonathon-
A few things...
1) Yes, the Oscar Wilde quote is taken out of context... he's also identified as a "reformed homosexual." That's a joke.
2) In addition to saying being gay is a choice, he also mentions that "God hates you / and you," supposedly parodying religious intolerance. That's a joke.
3) Of course his list of gay bands is far from exhaustive. He also lists lots of obviously-not gay bands & artists, as well as additions like "Elton John (really gay)." That's a joke.
A few other comments... did you notice that there's no detailed info to his "program" to cure homosexuality? That's b/c it's fake. And additionally, I feel like the fact that he's NOT a good signer suggests that he's probably a comedian who created this parody site & comedic video. I mean, no way would a real recording artist sound like that.
It's good that you're channeling your anger towards gay-bashers & what not, but relax, & take a cold shower. This is a parody website.
I can't believe I spent the time typing that out.
Posted by: Matt | Jan 23, 2007 5:19:55 PM
That song and video are so GAY.
Posted by: Marco | Jan 23, 2007 5:20:58 PM
If you guys would have stopped bitching long enough, you would have realized that this was fake. You have been had. Maybe if you concentrate as much energy on things that are more important than a fake stem-we would all be better.
Get over yourselves. Wake-up.
No one else is.

BOO
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 5:24:33 PM
If you google the man. HE is a "reformed homosexual"
We ALL should sack this video and hit 'Flag as Inappropriate' and then check off 'Hate Speech'!
Let's get em' to remove this crap! Parody or no parody, it has to go!!!
Posted by: chi | Jan 23, 2007 5:26:59 PM
Whoa! Jonathon, I thought you were Leland when I started reading your post. You sound just like him!
Posted by: Anon | Jan 23, 2007 5:27:20 PM
OMG
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 5:28:15 PM
There is no way this thing is real, and if it is its the most absurd thing i've ever seen/heard. On its site it has Nirvana and Frank Sinatra as gay music and Cyndi Lauper as safe music. WTF. Theres something fishy here.
Posted by: Ben | Jan 23, 2007 5:28:23 PM
Sorry guys, but I don't buy that it is a parody site. I have spent a lot of time studying the moonbat right and this is part and parcel of their message. If Davies was going for a parody, he failed because one can't distinguish it from the real thing. Until and unless he comes forward and says it was all a joke I take this to be the real deal.
And no, I don't need to "lighten up". This is some serious shit. Did you watch the whole video? Did you actually pay attention to what he says? I have a healthy sense of humour, but can find none in Davies' song.
If you want to see a real parody of the moonbat right, check out Betty Bowers' site. Now THAT is a parody. And funny, too. Davies' is just sad.
Posted by: Jonathon | Jan 23, 2007 5:28:46 PM
Do you people not get it? I made it up. You people are fools.
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 5:30:36 PM
Remind me to call you the next time I crap on tissue and it looks like the Virgin Mary.
Posted by: Andrew | Jan 23, 2007 5:32:33 PM
It's obviously a joke.
Posted by: Dave | Jan 23, 2007 5:35:51 PM
Wow. Jonathon & his oblivion is proving to be funnier than the actual video. He's brilliant.
Posted by: Matt | Jan 23, 2007 5:36:49 PM
It's clearly a parody and a good one. The web sites are paper thin and could have been designed and developed in a couple of days. There are only 3 websites, plus a myspace page and they only link to each other which is pretty suspicious. They are all registered through the same service which is designed to insure privacy of the domain name owners.
Definitely a hoax.
Posted by: Dave J | Jan 23, 2007 5:41:37 PM
It's got a good beat but I think a Tiefschwarz remix is in order.
Posted by: stan | Jan 23, 2007 5:46:51 PM
Check out Donnie davies MySpace page. If this is a joke it's pretty elaborate. I think it's real.
The guy says he's a youth pastor in Houston who moved here from Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. More proof that God didn't send katrina to punish New Orleans. He sent it to punish Houston!
And...it says on myspace that he's 29!? Yeah, right! Fat, Balding, Cheezy Mustache, No style. It's no wonder he's an "Ex-Gay"...he probably couldn't get laid to save his life.
Posted by: stevo | Jan 23, 2007 5:48:26 PM
i suspect it's not actually a hoax, really. and if it isn't, can someone please get on making the twelve-minute trance remix?
and seriously, enough with the fat remarks. god, i hate fags sometimes.
Posted by: steven | Jan 23, 2007 5:49:22 PM
Steven, not more than I hate black fat fags.
Posted by: M | Jan 23, 2007 5:55:53 PM
Andrew, if it really is your site and you made it up, what exactly was your point? I don't get it.
Posted by: chrisb | Jan 23, 2007 5:58:25 PM
Andrew, yes I can read you..but I'm afraid your opinion is no longer relevant. Your video is out there and being reuploaded by kids looking for a bit of youtube fame.
Besides, your joke was very "first-degree" so what exactely do you want? applause?
My point really is that drivel such as this doesn't deserve attention over the more creative content made by other queers.
Posted by: Da | Jan 23, 2007 5:59:04 PM

We think alike.
Posted by: Da | Jan 23, 2007 6:00:09 PM
Absolutely hilarious. And the site is awesome satire. My favorite part: Cyndi "She Bop" Lauper is safe for kids, but Cole Porter, Barry Manilow & Frank Sinatra are not.
I have a feeling some people posting on this thread may have scolded Jonathan Swift for advocating eating Irish children.
Posted by: Jeff in Deserto | Jan 23, 2007 6:04:57 PM
It is real. Here he is: http://www.donniedavies.com/
Posted by: Jon | Jan 23, 2007 6:06:55 PM
Ewwwww...the more I read about this guy, the more he just plain creeps me out. It says on his bio that he now lives in outside of Houston in Clear Lake (where I grew up! yuck!) that's not exactly the bible belt..which makes him all the more scary.
From his website: While I'm not advocating jailing all Homosexuals, I do think it would benefit them greatly. It would be for their own good.
What a freak! And is that mustache there to hide his cleft palate?
Posted by: stevo | Jan 23, 2007 6:07:30 PM
Here is what he says on his website:
A lot of people have been asking me, "Where are you coming from, Donnie?" Well, I was hoping that in my song The Bible Says that I had made myself clear, but there is only so much you can say in a 3 minute song.
I am in fact a Reformed Homosexual and I'm trying to let people know that there is an escape from being Gay. By letting people know that "God hates a Fag" I am doing Gods work, I'm preaching.
When I was in highschool I kept having feelings for the boys I was in school with. Often I would let these feelings take over. I got into lots of trouble when I was Gay.
I stopped listening to secular music and started going to my fathers church services. I was so miserable, being gay, something had to happen. I found Jesus! I found Jesus and He showed me the way. The right way to live that is. Loving, Gods Way!
If you have any more questions about me, please ask. I'm happy to share more with you and give testimony.
Peace
Donnie Davies

Some of you seem to think that since he has a website, that's proof that he's real? Gimme a break, anyone can put up a website with a few hours of coding time and a few bucks to register a domain name and buy hosting service (in other words, it's a lot easier, cheaper, and faster than making a crappy low-budget music video). You've spent a lifetime refining your gaydar, shouldn't your bullshit meter be fairly fine-tuned along with it? I'm disappointed in the gays today.

I love that he sings "god hates fags" while sporting a Rip Taylor mustache. Classic.

This reminds me of when Dame Edna was banned from Vanity Fair because people took her "Why would you want to learn Spanish? To talk to the help?" as a genuine sentiment and not as ironic commentary on the white, aspirational readers of Vanity Fair. It's good satire: it exposes hypocrisy and bigotry using their own rhetoric. The biggest irony is that gay people - who should understand a thing about hidden truths - don't seem to be appreciating the joke, no?

Joke or not, someone has way too much free time on his/her hands.
Sorry, Andrew.
I suspect that it is a joke though (albeit a pointlessly elaborate one), because if Oscar Wilde were truly Davies’ hero Davies would know that Wilde continued a homosexual affair with Ross even after his imprisonment. Wilde didn't convert to Catholicism until on his death bed, not in prison.
Davies (whoever he really is) might want to work on his punctuation and run-on sentences too, since he seems to have an exorbitant amount of leisure time.

joke or not, its not funny.

God I love this stuff. It's only Tuesday and look at the bitchiness go.
Satire, parody, joke.......let those words roll off your tongue....then go to the gym.

Josh,
You realize you just bitched about bitching?
Oh wait. Now I've done it too. Shit!
Hahaha!

My mother always told me "People hate the most what they fear the most."
Here is the proof that she was right.....
I'll bet God doesn't hate him nearly as much as he hates himself....
Sad and pathetic how people like him, who have no life of their own, always have a need to direct your life instead.......

OMG!!! Where can I get a copy of this record? It will go into my one of collecters box right next to The Brady Bunch's "Sunshine Day".

He looks like he can be had for two cookies and a donut... how can the poor thing ever resist a big and pretty dick?

If this is a joke, it is a VERY elaborate one ......See Sister Davies "special" site.

What concerns me is the numer of people that will "quietly" aggree with this jerk! At least we know that fool that is singing...we do not always know the person that agrees with him. It could be our boss, our neighbor, etc.
This cannot possibly be real; or can it?!
Posted by: RB | Jan 23, 2007 7:29:30 PM
No, it is not good satire, because even if it was meant as a parody, it's only purpose was to imitate to the point where intention doesn't even matter. So whether it is real or no, some commenters will love it just as much because it epitomizes the ridiculous lengths religious fanatics go to spew hate. Other people, even if it is a parody, won't give a fuck because it is so thorough in conveying a message so many of us have heard too much already. I'm putting myself in the latter category.
Posted by: GBM | Jan 23, 2007 7:37:41 PM
Eh.
It’s like an SNL sketch from the beginning of the decade: it’s so overdone and drawn-out that whatever initially made the concept funny becomes lost in the layers of crap.
Besides, Liam Sullivan (aka Kelly) is a great deal funnier.

I am inclined to think it's for real. If you follow the links through his homepage and myspace pages, it's frighteningly real.
We're witnessing the 'WTF? Reaction' from Americans who don't regularly have Bible study. The gays improve property values; we don't tell people what to do. So, class, we improve their financial standing but don't tell them that they can't fuck 10 people at once. Win-win, I say.
And if dude is 29, I am a 34 year-old ova.
Posted by: Eric | Jan 23, 2007 7:47:10 PM
Wow.....it's like watching a human Cartman!! I guess it works as a sort of flesh and bone South Park song.
I can't even take it seriously enough to be offended by it. Makes you wonder why the Romans persecuted the Christians....
Posted by: Ynot | Jan 23, 2007 7:47:28 PM
Crap - it's ovum in the singular. Maybe I'm girly enough to be a multi-cellular egg.
Posted by: Eric | Jan 23, 2007 7:52:00 PM
Comparing this to "A Modest Proposal" is beyond absurd. The glaring difference being that in Swift's time no one actually ate children, whereas in our time, lest you forget, people do actually preach the message that god hates fags.
It may be satire, but it's sophmoric satire.
Posted by: chrisb | Jan 23, 2007 7:52:56 PM
Um we're doing satire in english right now....i can tell this fake, it has to be. 117 comments??? damn, it wasnt THAT funny.
Hey, M, what was that "black" remark? Ahhh racism...
Posted by: FanGirlHater | Jan 23, 2007 8:17:22 PM
The link to the video doesn't work anymore. I want to know what I missed! UGH!
Posted by: Charles | Jan 23, 2007 8:48:38 PM
I'm not sure why so many here claim that the video is a fake/parody when there's no evidence. I think it's a sort of reverse naivete endemic to those living in gay ghettos on the West and East Coast - Thinking "there's no way someone like that could actually exist. It has to be performance art!"
Unfortunately, here in fly-over country people like that DO exist. I would bet my boots (if I owned any) that the song and the man are real. If not, I'll kiss Donnie Davies hairlip.
In the mean time I'll be keeping a sharp eye out here in Houston for Donnie. I swear I saw someone that looked just like him at The Ripcord the other night. He was laying in the piss trough giggling like a schoolgirl.
Posted by: stevo | Jan 23, 2007 9:47:44 PM
oh he's real alright, Stevo... problem is now I can't get that damn tune out of my mind... it's catchy.. shit!

Well... Someone who's 41, named Donnie Davis and a resident of Houston, TX is a member of a Cyndi Lauper fan network:

Uhh, people? This shit is NOT a joke. I mean...you've got to be seriously naive if you actually go to this guy's web pages and actually read them, or take a look at the pages of his mySpace friends, and STILL think he's joking. This guy is serious as a heart attack. And why this is so unbelievable is beyond me. Are we all REALLY that surprised? These people are everywhere. This is not news.
Posted by: John | Jan 23, 2007 10:48:43 PM
Clearly parody. Here's why:
No physical address or phone numbers on any websites.
No bible verses.
No links to legitimate organizations or religious communities.
CYNDI LAUPER LISTED AS "SAFE"!
Morrissey listed as Questionable.
A billion double entendres in the video, including the candles arranged like a penis and balls.
As someone mentioned - no requests for $$ on any of the sites.
.
.
.
Holy cow people! We are in a media savvy age - get a clue. A website does not indicate legitimacy. This is a joke!
Posted by: Johnny | Jan 23, 2007 11:53:11 PM
Good Lord, some of you are idiots. Some other obvious signs it's a parody:
-- On the Web site, "Donnie Davies" claims that Love God's Way ministries is an international network of ministries. But there is no address or phone number given, and if you do a Google search for "Love God's Way ministries", you won't get any hits.
-- Davies claims that a record label is releasing the song as a single. C'mon, can you really imagine any record label releasing that song as a single?
-- Davies claims he's a youth pastor, but there is no mention of a church and no links to any churches or religious organizations on his site.
-- The double entendres in the song: "To enter heaven, there's no BACK DOOR." "Righteous men, get ON YOUR KNEES."
-- The song "Love Gods Way" on the myspace site for the band -- www.myspace.com/eveningservice -- is a blatant ripoff of the Psychedelic Furs song "Love My Way."
-- One of the band's myspace friends is "Polly Prissy Pants."

Haven't you ever seen Stephen Colbert imitating Bill O'Reilly? The man NEVER breaks character!
Are there people out there that might watch Colbert and think he really believed all the hate he was spouting? Possibly.
Does this make it worse satire? I would argue that it makes it better! The fact that people have trouble distinguishing this video from the real thing only helps prove how clever it is.
There are clues all through this video. All the sexually suggestive lyrics, homoerotic imagery in the video like the candles, pink shirt & guys holding hands.
And the comments on the website about the gay bands, jailing homosexuals, and living near a chemical plant? Come on!
Hell, the name of the band, "Evening Service," is a subtle double entendre itself!
God doesn't hate fags. He only hates fags who take themselves so seriously they don't recognize a jab at Christian Fundameltalists when it's right in front of their eyes!

GEEZ!!!!
Times are tough for Ted Hagarrd now...he's gained about 50 pounds.

I was dumb enough to pursue "healing" of my sexual orientation for nearly 30 years. I was part of Homosexuals Anonymous, Exodus International, and NARTH.
So I know ex-gay, and I can tell you: Real ex-gays couldn't be this funny if they tried.
However, if "Donnie" actually had a true Christian ex-gay ministry, that would make this video even funnier. Ex-gay groups always package their lies as love and concern for us poor misguided homosexuals. They would shit their pants if one of their number came right out and said what they really preach: "If you're a fag, God hates you!"

Yes, Stephen Colbert is a brilliant comedian who has done a fantastic job of fooling many conservatives (including some of his guests) that he is one of them. The difference with Colbert is that he is clearly not a conservative. Anyone who has followed his career knows that.
I still stand by what I said before: this sick song and website is no parody. This is the real deal guys.
This is from the "Gay?" link on the lovegodsway.org website:
"Are you struggling with undesired same-sex attractions? Maybe you have been a Homosexual for a long time, but now are searching for a way out. You have come to the right place! Love God's Way is offering hope and help to people seeking freedom from being Gay. We believe and we have seen in thousands of lives that this freedom is possible through the power of our C.H.O.P.S program working in our hearts and minds.
"The bottom line - you shouldn't be gay! [this line is emphasized in bold text in the original text from the website] You can lead a life of fulfillment and happiness as God intended, a life far better than what your Gay life has offered.
"The journey to normalcy isn't an easy one, but we will be with you through the adventure. Our national network of online Christian ministries are devoted to providing the love and care you need as you find God, holiness, and healing."
Where's the parody in this passage? That doesn't read like parody to me. That sounds like the real thing.
He's for real, guys. Take him at his word. Make fun of me if you want, but I know evil when I see it.

I think that countering his god hates omosexuals with championing promiscuity doesn't help ur cause just cause u dont have to risk pregnancy doesn not mean you have to brag god hates the sin not the sinner or behavior thats all th bible says aabout gods hatesecondly hes wrong and ur wrong You cant't turn adn no one is truly a sexual orientation but a combination or dominantly attracted to one but their is still some prsent a a certain age u should figure which is ur dominant side this probably cant be correclated by some people but im black female from upper middle class and i have always been told i should champion the progression of my "people" and it was wrong to like white guys i did't care but it significantly affected me so i can see the reason behind pretending but in the end is wrong it affects all those involved

I nearly shit myself when I saw in the gay bands list: Ted Nugent (loincloth)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too funny to be for real.
