Joseph Gordon-Levitt: No Problem Kissing Dudes
In an interview in the March/April issue of Anthem magazine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is asked how he reacts to those who believe that the preponderance of gay roles (Sweet Jane, That 70's Show, Mysterious Skin) in his resume might cast some light on the actor's own sexuality:
"This is kind of embarrassing, but I recently put my name into a search engine and someone posted, is Joseph Gordon-Levitt gay? and the answer posted was: Is he an alien? because I played [one on 3rd Rock]. Right now I'm in Toronto playing a psychopathic murderer. And recently I played someone who was in the U.S. army in Iraq. So it's like, what's harder? Kissing a dude or killing people? I would hope that I can feel at least a bit of the horror of what it must be like, when I was playing a soldier, how hard it must be, the hell they go through. So, kissing Topher Grace is like, whatever."

Sort of silly really. I'm not sure why we should care who he bones Don't get me wrong. I would tap that booty yesterday but the whole "is he or ain't he" bores me.

Geez, don't say that, James. That's half of what keeps this site going.

I thought "That 70's Show" was nothing more than the stunt casting they imployed to keep viewers tuned in?
I think he's a cutie, and don't particuarly care one way or the other which team he plays for. I do care if he's a pitcher or catcher, though...

He kissed Topher Grace???? Is there a clip of that
Anyway does anyone else thinks he could pass for a younger brother of Heath Ledger?

Wow! Thanks for the ringing endorsement, Joseph! When choosing between being a solider at war or kissing a man, you might prefer to kiss a man.
It's terrifying that some in the gay community notches these lame little Sophie's Choices as supportive. Why must every actor who plays gay 'fess up to what he thought about smooching another performer?
We're totally not post-gay yet.

Rad,
And what position do you want him to play? I'll confess I like him as a catcher.
Posted by: James | Mar 23, 2007 10:55:01 AM
That was a great answer, but he didn't answer the question.

God... He's getting hotter and hotter as he gets older. More plz!

He is a little hottie. Never paid attention to him until Mysterious Skin. He made me uncomfortably hot, due to the nature of the film. And yes, he does look like Heath's younger brother. I'm surprised Hollyweird hasn't cast them together.

I've never understood why straight boys generally make such a fuss about kissing another guy. I am into men exclusively, but I wouldn't have a problem kissing a gal and in fact did so on many occasions while wearing a beard in my university days. It never aroused me, but it didn't disgust me either.

What a bright smart talented cool young man.
That is all we can ask for in straight friends.
Mysterious Skin was a movie that SHOULD make you you uncomfortable - he did an AMAZING job showing how molestation destroyed the early life of his character.
AMAZING young dude.

I wanna see him kissing Topher Grace...

Kissing Topher Grace is, like, whatever...
If only. If only...

"And yes, he does look like Heath's younger brother. I'm surprised Hollyweird hasn't cast them together."
Is that a joke? They have been casted together. It's called "10 Things I Hate About You."
btw, I love this actor - everything from his AMAZING talent to cute butt! LOL. Seriously, if he doesn't catch on as a major force in acting, shame on Hollywood. He's picks great roles, is very edgy... and just what we need to help save a sinking industry.

Seen the movie Brick? He's the next Jake Gyllenhaal in more ways than one.

Gee.....an actor who understands the CRAFT of acting. Dang. Almost makes me want to go out and see a movie. (It's bad to be one of the gays and not into popular culture.....)

Yes TEAR, he is getting hotter as he ages. His sexy self-confident inner maturity is emerging in his outward appearance. And it's only going to keep getting better...

That's a lot less squirming than Gyllenwho admitted to.

Sometimes I think the only answer you guys will all get behind is "I loved it, now I'm gay". Seriously, the guy says playing gay is a non-event and points out how dumb it is to think an actor's roles shed light on his personal life (hint: he's not a soldier, he's not an alien, he's not a psychopath). He seems to be more "post-gay" than some of the people here.

Well put OHNOES. When so many other actors and politicians give bs answers or the 'ick' response, I find his to be very honest, as is his acting.
Brick was a so so movie, but made worth watching because of him.

JGL has not been asked a million times like Jake and Heath Ledger (who did his own share of "squirming" in his comments on the kissing in BBM) what it was like to kiss a man on film. He was and is not under the microscope they were.
