Blake Lewis and Chris Richardson, Together Forever

B1 C1

I know that more than a few people were unhappy to see the break-up of American Idol's dynamic duo Chris Richardson and Blake Lewis last night. Thanks to our wizards in the Towleroad labs, however, the two will never have to be apart again.

I now present to you - Cake!

Cake

And lest we forget, the sad good-bye:

Chris to Entertainment Weekly on the BFF-moment:

EW: So let's talk about the Chris-Blake BFF moment last night: I didn't realize you two were such buds.

RICHARDSON: We developed a friendship back in Hollywood and clicked since then. We've been roommates forever now. He's become like a brother to me. It's just been one of those things. Me and him are both very big on loyalty and friendship, you know. We have a lot in common. We might not sing exactly alike, but our styles of music and our style in general is very similar. You can't be anything but excited when your boy makes it through to another round.

  8. I am overly obsessed with these two (well, Chris really). The way he eye-fucks you onstage. While we'll never know what happened at the "Idol Mansion" or wherever they house these guys, we can always hope..

Open comment to MTV: Please consider Chris for honorary membership into the Real World / Road Rules circuit. He'll give those boys a run for their money.

  9. Oh my god, how cute were they last night? When they were standing up, waiting for one of their names to be called, you could see Chris stretching out his hand to hold Blake's and then thinking better of it. And then after Chris sang, Blake could NOT keep his shit together.

  10. How the hell do people become BEST friends in 2 months?

Best friends are the ones there when the shit hits the fan. Time and being there during traumatic situations like a car breaking down at 4 in the morning in some out of the way bum hick town and needing a ride from your friend is what makes best friends. A best friend is someone that gives you a kidney. How does singing on stage together for 2 months = best friends?

Nothing happens by chance in hollywood. The Best friends schtick had to have been cooked up by one of idol's PR people.

  17. Cake is creepy... but cute... if you can get past the awful hair, earrings, and braces, that is.

  18. Of course they are best friends. Who else is going to be able to relate what they are going through. This is the biggest SHOW ever! I think you are are mean for putting a homosexual slant a friendship. Gay people can be so bitter and hateful. Leave the boys alone.

  19. Nice morph. I don't follow AI, but that looks like a real person exactly halfway between the other two.

I wonder how long it is until we have movies featuring characters morphed between the performances of two actors?

  20. they were sooooo cute together last night !
when chris said of blake when they were the last two standing, "i'd go home for him" my heart melted. i'll miss their hugging and playful poking and staring into each other's eyes. it's a shame that the producers didn't play up their friendship sooner. a little homo-eroticism would have perked up this otherwise rather dreary season.

  21. Mike then your best friend should be leary of being your best friend when you hold such a title/ designation with such little regard.

BEST friend is a one person and one person only title that is earned by being there when the chips are down and the shit hits the fan. 2 months of idol stress is not enough to be a best friend. At best a fair weather friend. With all the interns taking care of all their needs and people screaming out their names and practicaly throwing their underware at them = NOT real life stress....till lets say chris ends up in a hospital needing a kidney and Blake is making more money and does or does not have the time or will to help out. Sorry, 2 months of idol stress is not Best friend making material.

It is Idol PR illusion, they were probably told back stage to ham it up for the camera. It is hollywood the capitol of smoke, mirrors, and illusions.

I bet you are the type that considers themselves married to a boyfriend on the 2nd date. OY VEY

  22. if only chris performed as well all season as he did on last night's swan song.

  23. pacificoeanboy and mike, let it go. whetever your opinion is about when two people can be considered best friends is just that. an opinion. there is no science there. measuring the degree of friendship is a personal matter. to each his own.

    Posted by: joshua | May 3, 2007 7:33:21 PM

  24. Whoa!! Easy there, "pacificoceanboy". First the threatening voicemail messages to the daughter and now bashing poor mike for his bff ideals. Tisk, Tisk. 30Rock not keeping you busy enough?

    Posted by: Silverskreen | May 3, 2007 7:54:20 PM

  25. Seriously, get a grip, people. And pacificoceanboy, they weren't just friends during "two months of stress." The audition process went all the way back almost a year. You don't know how long they've known eachother.
