Bobby Brown Threatens British TV Host Over Gay Sex Joke

Bobby Brown, the first guest on the new UK show 24 Hours With..., in which host Jamie Campbell interviews a celebrity as they are locked together in a room for an entire day, threatened to become violent when Campbell joked about the idea of gay sex with the singer.

Transcript after the jump...

BROWN: They told me it was going to be like a prison.

CAMPBELL: How do I measure up to your cellmates?

BROWN: You're dangerous.

CAMPBELL: I haven't tried any sex moves on you yet.

BROWN: What the f**k do you mean sex moves? Do I Look like... You saying you haven't even tried any sex moves yet. Are you, are you...

CAMPBELL: Am I gay? Would it make a difference?

BROWN: Are you?

CAMPBELL: Why would it make a difference?

BROWN: You said to me, I ahven't even tried any sex moves on you yet. Yet? What the fuck you mean, 'yet'? I'm a grown-ass man. Yet? On live TV I will fuck you up. Trust.

CAMPBELL: I only meant it as a joke.

BROWN: Okay well you shoulda laughed afterwards. Cause I didn't laugh.

CAMPBELL: The conversation went, I said to you, 'do you think I'm an okay cellmate compared with the guys in prison. And you said, I think you're dangerous. And I said, and I haven't even tried any sex moves yet. It was just a joke.

BROWN: Can you answer the question though? Are you?

CAMPBELL: Would it matter to you if I was?

BROWN: You said, you haven't even tried any sex moves on me yet. Do you know I will fuck you up in here? Do you know that?

CAMPBELL: I mean, don't you disrespect me by suggesting that...

BROWN: Suggesting that what?

CAMPBELL: Suggesting that somehow my answer would make me less of a man in your eyes?

BROWN: I think you're less of a man for not answering.

CAMPBELL: I think it's like a joke. It as just a joke.

BROWN: (cracking knuckles) you know what would be more of a joke, you know what would be really more of a joke, if the 24 hours ended right now. That would be more of a joke.

  1. I was actually impressed with the guy's response. Rather than saying "yes" or "no" to Bobby Clown's question, he (some would say rudely) answered the question with a question, "Would it matter". I think the question "Would it matter" was profound and appropriate.

I noticed Bobby didn't answer the question.

If Bobby HAD answered Campbell's question I wonder if Campbell would have answered Bobby's.

  2. You know, several of my friends worked the Brown/Houston wedding. All said it was more business deal than wedding. Sure I wasn't there myself, so I speak not from personal experience, but from what they said, it was a very gay affair.

The closet does horrible things to people. Even if, in the end, they are straight.

  3. I always wished Whitney Houston would have come out of the closet when she was at her peak: beautiful, a wonderful singer...she could have been a great example of lesbians in the public eye. Instead she marries that horrible thing as a cover. Sounds like a promising (lol) show- incidentally- if HE was one of the first guests.

  4. Zeke...you may be right, but I think you are giving Jamie Campbell an awful lot of credit there...perhaps he was just goading Brown to see what kind of reaction he'd get, but I still think he was saying that it was disrespectful for Brown to think Campbell might be gay.

  5. why are so many people saying that it's "english humor" it was just a lame, low brow joke about man on man prison sex...what's more American than that? Bobby is just an idiot and homophobe. I can't believe he couldn't understand a joke about sex between prison cellmates. The joke doesn't even really imply rape, just that men that're locked up together would eventually get it on.

  6. The people who keep mentioning the dry British humor are the same people who think Garrison Keillor is hilarious. Sorry....Dry does not always equal funny.

  7. LAMBMAN, how did you come to the conclusion that this wasn't about rape.

He asked Brown if he would be a good cell mate.

    Brown said, "you're DANGEROUS".

And the guy said, I haven't even made a sexual move yet.

Which, even by Campbells own clarification was in response to Brown saying that he was "dangerous".

How was he not referring to a "dangerous" sexual advance, AKA prison rape, with his "joke".

Did you guys actually listen to the clip?

  8. Bobby Brown and David Gest?! What is the name of this show? The only thing interesting about either men were the ladies they were once married to. What's the name of this show again? "Mr. Ex-Hubby of a Gay Diva"? Who's next? Elliot Gould?

  9. LOL. Pretty true, Bobby.

  10. I was goign to complain to BBs manager/fan site/anything with his name on it, but after searching for a bit I found a few trashy fan sites from the early 90s, and quickly woke up to the obvious idea that he is trying to be relevent again, if he ever was. Sad, sad boy, he is.

  11. Okay. Here's an idea for a new celebrity-based show: "Celebrity Detention." While being covered by hidden camera, have a celebrity busted for a supposedly criminal act - speeding, shoplifting, leaving an unpaid restaurant tab -and thrown into a mock jail cell with an other prisoner - who is in fact an actor.
While waiting for their court appearance, the celebrity will be
asked questions by their "cellmate". Much hilarity will result when
celebrity learns it's all a fake. Sort of "Punk'd" meets "Shawshank Redemption."

  13. Bobby B, is a washed up LOSER/CRACKHEAD.
No I mean he is a washed up HOMOPHOBIC/CRACKHEAD/LOSER.
I would do backflips if I heard he was never going to be on a TV show again! And that would be the first time in my life that I did a backflip ;-). His reaction was unnecessary and inappropriate, even if he is a homophobe he should've done a better job at keeping his cool and playing it off. It doesn't take long to let your true colors show and he showed them years ago, unfortunately some crackhead exec keeps putting him on the tube.
Let's do this friends, let's vow to NEVER leave your tv on a show that even shows bobby for one nanosecond.
I hope he is forgotten about real soon and now that he's not with whitney I'm sure he will be. Kudos to Whitney for finally waking up and realizing that Bobby B was just mooching/leeching off of her and needed someone to help him pay his bills because he can't even pay his child support.
Bobby stop being a homophobic ass and start taking care of your kids and try to stay out of jail.

  15. Couldn't they find somebody worthwhile to interview?. What a waste of good time in a lesser than a person thing that can't add anything of importance on any subject but maybe crack and other drugs. With this interview they certainly were scrapping the bottom of the barrel. BORING, please lets try to keep the program in some of an somewhat interesting vein. Thank you for future shows, 'cus this one is a complete and total loss. Boo

  16. I don't know about the rest of you, but Brown has always set off my gaydar. Watch some of his solo music videos back in the day. He used to be hot! Now he's a loser. But should consider what kind of people have these kinds of reactions to gay jokes. I mean, people who freeze up and get violent. He's hiding something.
