Happy May Day

Bbg1

In honor of the first day of May, here are a few photos I shot last weekend at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. They were having their annual cherry blossom festival. On a day when there's so much talk of war, here's a bit of peace.

  2. Don't let Rush Limbaugh see these. He'll end up writing some song about pansies or something. Unless he's too busy getting divorced again.

  9. Wow! Thanks for these Andy! They are so beautiful & so simple, and do, as you say, make one forget if only for a moment!

  11. Andy, your photos are delicous. The BBG is a NY treasure deeply connected to my childhood - especially the cherry trees and Japanese garden. I spent the first Earth Day there with my college girlfriend, and later brought my boyfriend (now husband in MA) to see the beauty.
In Boston we have a piddling Japanese garden connected to the MFA. Fey.

    Anyhow, thanks.

  12. Beautiful pictures. But those turtles are AGGRESSIVE. I was at the duck pond in the Brooklyn botanical garden and kids were feeding bread crumbs to the ducks - the turtles were literally pushing the ducks out of the way with their feet to get to 'em first. Kinda cute unless you're a bread crumb.

  15. I must've just missed you, as I saw those turtles on the rocks in the japanese gardens. You could tell that they just came up from the muck (I have four red-eared sliders at home).

All terrapins are aggressive when it comes down to food. They are not clever reptiles.
