Alan Cumming Film Tortures More Than David Boreanaz

A screening of Alan Cumming's new film A Suffering Man's Charity at NYC's Core Club last night incited a few extreme reactions, Page Six reports:
"Some scenes in the dark comedy - about a 'failed composer turned music teacher with a weakness for impoverished young men' - were too much for the crowd. During a gruesome torture scene involving a scantily clad David Boreanaz and a whip, several people left and a woman fainted. Cumming - who adapted, directed, produced and stars in the movie - was unfazed and partied with Paper magazine execs afterward."
Here's a clip for you. No whips are involved in this one.

I wonder if the woman who fainted complained of the vapors before she passed out. "Lawdy Lawdy I do declare I must have the vapors." (eyes roll into the back of her head) BOOM (she hit the floor)
Do people still do that?

Saw the movie last week at the SF LGBT Film Fest...it was campy and funny, but not gruesome! What babies!
Oh yeah, and David in bra and panties is worth the $10...

This sounds suspiciously like marketing campaigns for horror B-movies from back in the day. They would run ads that boast about audiences fainting at screenings, and how there'd be medical staff on hand. Passion of the Christ, a movie that was actually in wide release, had a gruesome whipping scene that went on for a ridiculous amount of time. How many faintings did that cause?

Hmm, this film looks like a parody of GODS AND MONSTERS.

If he had been whipping an actress, or hanging her upside down and cutting her in half or something like that I'm sure no one would have got upset.
