Alen Kostelac Crowned Mr. Croatia 2007

In Croatia they have pageants for both the men and the women, and this weekend Alen Kostelac was crowned Mr. Croatia 2007 in Zagreb.
Said Kostelac: "I primarily feel very tired. The competition was so strong that nobody could say for certain who will be Mr Croatia. Since I won the title, I will model primarily for financial reasons."
Some of the other contestants appear below. Somehow I don't think many would object being asked to judge such a contest.

And then of course, there's the Croatian National Water Polo League.

While none of these guys float my boat, its a cute story, male beauty pagent, but, what's the one doing with a purse?

Wow! That's refreshing, but who knew Croats were just as bad as Italians (la MARCA, LA MARCA! LMAO-wear anything printed, AS LONG AS IT'S IN ENGLISH)? I'd like to know who's supplying the casual fashions.

Dolly Parton??? WTF?!?!? LOL -- right on Fizzie, that's clearly the dynamic in play here. My favorite exemplar of this was in Tokyo when I rode next to a guy wearing a t-shirt that said: "Endless sparkles -- crunchy hamburger"
I almost bought the fucker off the guy's back...

Is Mr. Croatia televised? Is it a straight pageant or a gay pageant?
I've watched Utube clips of these male model pageants and the men are stiffer than (well you finish it)... They're horrible. Nothing like the girl pageants.
A Mr. Gay USA pageant would be great fun - and I don't like the idea of contestants doing it to be male models - that's not meaningful. Contestants should either be in it for scholarships or to become an activist for a social cause, like AIDS or homelessness. Beauty with a purpose, like Miss World goes.
I wish Bravo would seriously air an annual gay pageant, but I would want to be the Trump so I could decide all the sets and costumes and songs...lol

It's nice to see that in a country that experienced tens of thousands of deaths (and inflicted that many on its neighbors) barely 10 years ago, they can rise to something as meaningless as beauty pagents. The folks in those mass graves must surely be spinning.

Is the guy at the top the winner? He is the least attractive, but perhaps his baton-twirling skills are unmatched by other croats.

and by "baton", Dan B., you mean...
LMAO@Becks07! That's AWESOME! Notice, the Chinese are getting in on the act too.
note to self: start chinglish spam t-shirt business

Ahh Eastern Europe home to the dark and swarthy. The men that time forgot, in favor, of the current twinky flavor.
Budapest, Prague, come back to me!

Croatia is a beautiful country with more than it's share of really hot men. It's one of the few places in this world that I have visited where I still have to ask the guy what his bedroom flavor is, because they are almost all so masculine. In any country in Europe, you pretty much know what the other guy wants after 30 seconds of conversation, but not in Zagreb.

"If I am named Mr. Croatia, I would bring an end to poverty, find a cure for cancer and slaughter any Serb scum I could find."

@ Juliana - Please get your facts straight before you begin to criticize an entire nation - the war ended over 15 years ago and life is almost completely back to normal. I'm sure the dead are completely fine with this, but thanks for your concern.
No, it is not a gay pageant. It was for "Mister World".
The printed shirts were from one of the sponsors of the pageant.
