Larry Craig and Wife to Discuss Men's Room Arrest with Matt Lauer

Lauer_larry

Matt Lauer has snagged the first interview with Larry Craig since his disorderly conduct arrest in a Minneapolis airport men's room in June.

According to MSNBC, "The interview with Matt Lauer, anchor of NBC’s TODAY morning program, was scheduled to air Tuesday night on NBC stations. The network said Lauer would also interview Craig’s wife, Suzanne."

Craig, who was recently chosen to be inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame, reacted to a judge's decision not to allow him to withdraw his guilty plea in the case by saying he would stay in the Senate and continue to fight charges leveled against him:

"I will continue to serve Idaho in the United States Senate, and there are several reasons for that. As I continued to work for Idaho over the past three weeks here in the Senate, I have seen that it is possible for me to work here effectively. Over the course of my three terms in the Senate and five terms in the House, I have accumulated seniority and important committee assignments that are valuable to Idaho, not the least of which are my seats on the Appropriations Committee, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Veterans' Affairs Committee. A replacement would be highly unlikely to obtain these posts. In addition, I will continue my effort to clear my name in the Senate Ethics Committee - something that is not possible if I am not serving in the Senate. When my term has expired, I will retire and not seek reelection. I hope this provides the certainty Idaho needs and deserves."

  4. @ DAVID -- I know, right? Interviewers at NBC must get dental dams in their new hire kit. At least it\\\'s not Chris Matthews -- that fawning tweety bird would probably be trying to touch his foot under the anchor desk.

I just hope Matt can TAP into Larry\\\'s psyche and that the senator does not STALL when it comes time to provide answers. Ba-dum-bum (sorry, giddy Friday strikes again...)

  8. Keep toe-tapping away, Larry. You're ensuring a Democratic sweep in 2008.

Widen that stance and keep going on tv, please!!!

  10. They should do the interview from adjoining toilet stalls since that seems to be the only place where Larry Craig can be honest with HIMSELF.

After all, if he can't be honest with himself and those closest to him in private, how can anyone expect him to be honest with America on national TV?

  11. HA!!! Of course he gives his first interview not to Barbara, not to Oprah, not to Larry King, but to the hot guy.

  12. I’m sure Matt will have Senator Craig demonstrate his wide stance so Matt can use it next time he stops on the Jersey turnpike. Then Matt will bring on one of his kids so he can take his shirt off on camera. Matt knows that’s the “money shot” for President Bush. I’m sure GW has worn out (spooge covered) his copy of People (with Matt shirtless) that he showed everyone when he was with Matt in person.

  13. Which airport was chosen for the interview.

Oh, and this just in. The police just release the video of what transpired before Craig was arrested:

Craig can't lie anymore. The evidence is there!

  14. part of the stipulation for the interview is matt must wear tight khakis with no underwear.

  15. "As I continued to work for Idaho over the past three weeks here in the Senate, I have seen that it is possible for me to work here effectively. Over the course of my three terms in the Senate and five terms in the House, I have accumulated seniority and important committee assignments that are valuable to Idaho"

Now change a few words and what do you get:

"As I continued to work for the US Military over the past three weeks here in the Army/Air Force/Navy/Marines, I have seen that it is possible for me to work here effectively. Over the course of my three tours of duty in the armed forces, I have accumulated seniority and important skills that are valuable to my country."

Chances that you'll see Larry vote for gays in the United States Military: Zero. Larry's belief that he can effectively serve in the United States Senate with a criminal, sexually related conviction on his record: 100 fucking percent

  16. I am enjoying watching the Republican leadership squirm on this one. Do they press the ethics charges and try to force Craig to resign? Or will that just keep the story in the news for months to come? Or do they let it die down and hope that people forget about it? Either way, Craig remains a continual butt of jokes and
a black eye for the Republicans. And all the Democrats have to do is sit back and enjoy the view.

  17. Miss Lauer is bald in the back. Also, does she pad her butt - to make it look more inviting?
Furthermore, what a joke the show will be: two queens + a fish-beard.
Miss Lauer, being the evil queen that she is, will do everything possible to make Miss Craig look very bad.
    Discuss!
