Mike Huckabee Equates Homosexuality to Bestiality

In an interview published today on Belief.net, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee equated homosexuality with polygamy and bestiality.

HuckTalking Points Memo notes: "Huck has just clarified his view that the Constitution should be amended to be brought in line with God's will -- and he directly equated homosexuality with bestiality. Huck, in elaborating on his views that the Constitution should be subjected to Biblical standards, had just wrapped up a discussion of the fact that marriage has meant 'a man and a woman in a relationship for life.' With this context firmly established, this exchange followed:"

BELIEF.NET: Is it your goal to bring the Constitution into strict conformity with the Bible? Some people would consider that a kind of dangerous undertaking, particularly given the variety of biblical interpretations.

HUCKABEE: Well, I don’t think that’s a radical view to say we’re going to affirm marriage. I think the radical view is to say that we’re going to change the definition of marriage so that it can mean two men, two women, a man and three women, a man and a child, a man and animal. Again, once we change the definition, the door is open to change it again. I think the radical position is to make a change in what’s been historic.

  3. "...a man and a child"

Wasn't Arkansas one of those good 'ol Bible Belt states where the age of consent for a girl used to be thirteen--and that was just 40 years ago. If you made the Constitution conform with the Bible, grown men could marry pubescent girls. Then air travel from the US to Thailand would just plummet.

  6. I think Hucksterbee needs to learn a little law first. There are already laws against polygamy, a child can't enter into a contract, nor can any animal. And the constitution doesn't allow any one religion to dominate--so, what about buddhist, muslim, jewish, hindu, wiccan points of view? And science? Where's credible evidence that heterosexuality is the only correct one? Does the bible say there can't be same sex marriage? I don't think so. Leviticus takes a dim view on same sex, but nothing about marriage.

Hucksterbee is selling snake oil. I believe it's his own.

  10. Here's a quote from Leon Bezile, a trial judge the Lovings encountered in Virginia after they broke the "Racial Integrity Act" in 1958:

"Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, Malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix."

    And the beat goes on...

  11. Now, Brother Zeke: Is Fido all BLACK or is he spotted. I'm all for bestiality, but I'm still workin' on fears of miscegeny. And did you ever get your T-shirt?

  12. Actually, based on what he in fact said it's inaccurate to say he "equates homosexual to bestiality." That he's unqualified to be president is pretty obvious without hysterical exagerration.

  13. "I think the radical position is to make a change in what’s been historic."

Like those radical bastards that didn't like slavery! Or those radical bastards who didn't want women to vote. Or those radical bastards who rose up against the French aristocracy. Or those radical bastards who don't believe the earth is flat. Or those radical bastards who think the earth isn't the center of all creation. I mean, really... Look how well things are going in the middle east where they primarily live in the 12th Century.

I think it's time my son went out with his dog-killer friends and showed those radical bastards' dogs what's up!

"I used to be fat and stoopid. Now I'm just husky and stoopid. I'm Mike Huskybee and I approved this message."

  14. There is polygamy in the Bible. Jacob married Leah and then Rachel. Why does nobody CALL Huckabee on this stuff?

Ummm... that should read, "Or those radical bastards who WANTED women to vote."

Shit! It loses all it's thunder if you have to explain it.

  21. Keep talking Mike Huckafool. With every sentence you talk yourself out of a nationwide elective position. You may be able to fool a majority of the bastion of inbred idiocy residing in Arkansas but you are underestimating the stupidity and gullibility of the majority of Americans.

  22. The thing that frsutrates me is that he continues to say things like this, and has said them in the past, and yet remains one of the frontrunners for the Republican nomination. So it's not that I'm afraid he will win the presidency or that I'm afraid he'll even win the nomination. It just baffles my mind that there is still such a numerous and influential voting block in this country that buys into what he's preaching. And it's this voting block and their chosen politicians that will continue to firewall the progress of gay rights.
