News: Giant Rat, RENT, Seth Green, KGB Attack, Sia

road.jpg Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth kicks off gay-bashing over MRSA staph infections.

Giantratroad.jpg Scientists discover ancient skull of a rat that was the size of a car: "The creature lived about four million years ago, weighed about a tonne and ate mostly soft vegetation. It was so big that it probably spent much of its life semi-submerged in water, like a hippo, to reduce the stresses caused by its size."

road.jpg EVICTED: Broadway musical RENT to end run on June 1st after 5,012 performances.

road.jpg Warrantless wiretapping will be a "walk in the park" comapred to the plans that National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell has for cyberspace that would give the government the authority to examine the content of any e-mail, file transfer or Web search.

road.jpg Seth Green wins the prize for cheesiest mustache ever.

road.jpg Yesterday, I posted that a judge ruled Dennis Kucinich could participate in the Las Vegas MSNBC debate. At the last minute, the Nevada Supreme Court overturned that decision. Here are the details: "The Supreme Court's unanimous order said that blocking the debate unless Kucinich got to participate would be “an unconstitutional prior restraint” on the news network's First Amendment rights. Justices also said the lower court exceeded its jurisdiction by ordering Kucinich's participation even though “he first requested and was denied relief” from the Federal Communications Commission."

road.jpg HARD LABOR for Homosexuality: Sentence handed down in Cameroon.

Gayrussianjournalistroad.jpg KGB and militia raid apartment of Russian gay TV journalist: "A group of his gay friends soon arrived to support the journalist. They offered to be witnesses of the search. But the militia and KGB agents forced them to leave. The hard disk from the journalist’s computer was confiscated, along with a video camera and a flash memory stick. Mr. Padsasonny is said to have fled Gomel and is now in hiding."

road.jpg Miss the American Idol premiere? Here are last night's four audition tragedies.

road.jpg Australian singer Sia (you may remember her "Breathe Me" song that covered the final moments of Six Feet Under) is a lesbian. She also says she was "born out of the butthole of a unicorn called Steve."

road.jpg For British man with gigantic 13 1/2-incher, bigger is not better.

Mcdreamyroad.jpg McDreamy wants to show he's more than just a suit.

road.jpg mtvU looking for people willing to talk about their HIV-positive status or how AIDS/HIV has affected them in some way: "MTV's college channel, mtvU, and the Kaiser Family Foundation have teamed up to develop an anti-stigma campaign in partnership with POZ Magazine. The goal of the project is to challenge common misperceptions about people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States. The heart of the project will be a collection of photos and stories about real people who are either HIV positive, or are HIV negative but have in some way been affected by the virus. We are seeking a diverse group of people willing to be featured online and perhaps on-air with their photo, their HIV status, and their story about why HIV is an important issue to them. If you are U.S.-based person, 18 years of age or over and would like to lend your face and story to this project, please contact as soon as possible. No direct link to HIV/AIDS is necessary - an interest in the issue is sufficient."

  1. 13.5!!!! The could see the unedited pic at Kenneth's site. I don't even know what to say...actually, yes I do. THANK HEAVENS that nature provided me with a normal size penis. If I had to walk around with that between my legs...I can't...Forget about sex - what, I need a ruptured colon, now, too?!

  3. His double chin is more obvious than his package.

  5. The massive penis is a turnoff, but it's not the only one. God, I hate to be bitchy but it was worth saying.

  6. The Russian gay journalist story is actually a Byelorussian gay journalist story! Big difference, well... difference. Belarus is an even crazier dictatorship than Putin's Russia, and it still apparently even has a KGB called the KGB! I'm just surprised Mr. Podsossonny is somewhere in hiding: he slipped out of their hands? There are also numerous photographs online of the KGB harassing his friends -- how did those get out and online?

  8. Well Mr 13.5

Meet me in china where they can transplant that monster onto me. LOL Seriously the chinese performed the world's first penis transplant.

If the duded doesn't want it, I 'll gladly take it and pay all the bribes to chinese officials to get it done.

DD, one thinks that if he worked out etc he wouldn't have the 1/2 the problem he is crying about

  9. Yeah, that guy was pretty gross. I can see why people were only interested in what was in his pants. But is 13.5 really that huge? You can get sex toys bigger than that. I've had guys 12" before, and while it's great for a while...if they pound you for an hour or more, it gets a bit old. You finally gotta say, 'dude, you have to pull out'

  10. Though it's legimate and fair of you to link to Christian antigay sites, I feel bad I gave them one more click of traffic directly from Towleroad. (The MRSA article).

It's your site, and you can send viewers wherever you want. Often on political sites, there's sort of an accepted wisdom that sending clicks to an enemy helps them. They tend to link instead to critiques of the offending post.

This prevents the antigay MRSA authors claiming that over 1 million people have clamored to see their homophobic article. Clicks and pageviews are power, even if it's just us looking to see what the enemy is saying.

It's up to you if you want to send viewers and page-clicks to hate sites, pumping their numbers up and allowing them to claim that they have millions of readers. But is it wise? Think of how many people you're sending there.

  12. A US Navy physician comments on the MRSA story on Sullivan's page:

    Read that, not LaBarbera's bullshit.

  19. Mr. Sergius Padsasonny, the "Russian" journalist, is actually Belarusian -- a native of Russia's next-door neighbor, Belarus, which is ruled by a dictator (Alexander Lukashenka) so hardline, it makes Vladimir Putin's Russia look like a liberal democracy.

  20. Mr. 13.5 might want to lay off the manhunt if he wants a girlfriend....

    Posted by: David | Jan 17, 2008 1:26:02 AM

  21. Check out our LifeLube post on MRSA that tries to quell the hysteria and report just the facts, ma'am....

Shock horror, superbug fears greatly exaggerated

We also have a very nice, calm fact sheet from the CDC linked there, as well as another fact sheet from the NY State Dept of Health...

As we all know, MRSA can be passed through any kind of contact, including but not limited to sex. In fact, it is more likely to be spread through casual contact, say, spotting your buddy at the gym, or from a towel or surface.

  22. Anyone noticed how they mention his "bedding both men and women"? Interesting. Now 13"5 is NOT the biggest for sure! Plenty of men measure up to that and beyond. It's just not recorded anywhere. Would love to play with something like that though!

  23. All the false info. about the MRSA Staph infections among gay men prompted the CDC to issue a statement clarifying the matter.
