Joe Oppedisano: Dangerous Boys

Photographer Joe Oppedisano gave us an exclusive sneak peek at a series of images entitled "Dangerous Boys" he shot for the upcoming Black Party issue of New York's Next magazine, which comes out at the end of this week. The annual Black Party happens this year on March 29.

You may remember Joe's homage to the Calvin Klein underwear man we featured back in January.

Check out the Black Party images here (warning NSFW).

  1. I guess "to each his own", but I think those images are oddly unsexy and kind of corny.

  2. Kink is fun

leather is just another form of drag

most kink guys never wear leather

  3. They don't look "dangerous" - they look like they've got disposable income to spend on leathers. They look like its fantasy time - which I guess it is!
    Yes "to each his own".

  5. The photographs are pretty but not even remotely sexy. More like second rate Mapplethorpe or something.

Sexy doesn't really pose, does it?

  6. indeed the pics are very much like The Black Party... pasteurized and derivative... fabricated and skeevy.
    No edge at all.

  7. These pictures are exactly why I wouldn't go to the Black Party. Unattractive, unsexy, skeezy and cheesy.

But if that's your thing, more power to ya.

  8. Sorry, but...just iconic rubbish to me!

  9. The leather's not really my thing, but does anyone know the name of the guy in the main picture up there, or if he's done any other modeling work? He's really, REALLY good-looking (and that's WITH a silly hat on!)

  10. Scruffy face but no chest hair... (sigh) Dangerous.. to whom? :)

  11. Gross.

  12. I think most of the images are nicely photographed and post processed, but I have to agree there isn't the slightest bit of danger in a single image. It's more like a disneyization of gay danger. Maybe the soft processing, which is lovely, contributes to this.

  13. What can it mean that I am much more attracted to that gorgeous fireplace mantle than to any of those men?

  14. Drag queens are much hotter and "dangerous" in heels than leather.

  15. cheap, horrible, WTF!!!!!!!!!

  16. It was interesting that he chose to include a guy who looks ill.

  17. ^5 Father T! Keep the Pleather Girls and send over the Della Robbia mantle.

  18. These are terrible. There's no sex in the poses and the processing is amateurish. They might as well be selling Tom Ford leather perfume in Vanity Fair's fashion issue.

  19. Makes me more excited for IML!

  20. Not bad. A bit contrived, but still nice. And Jack, some gay men like both -- a lot. :)

  21. Why do all his photos (not these photos but his photos in general) look the same, that is my question.

  22. i love the jackbooted daddy with the stogie -- i certainly wouldn't mind thrusting myself between his knees and drinking from the tap, if you catch my drift...

  23. It's always a bit odd when people say that leather is just another form of drag. Drag is definitely theatrical and is associated with performing (probably from the middle ages when only men could be actors), and often is done for pay. Nothing remotely like that happens with the (now residual) leather community. Most guys in leather are just dumpy 50-year-olds--which is why it gets lumped together with the bear community (entirely different). The Black Party is a rave for 30-year olds.
