Grey's Anatomy to Feature Hot Gay Soldier Kiss

It looks like Grey's Anatomy, which starts airing again on April 24, is going to be getting some hot gay action. Earlier this month, a casting call went out for two men to play soldiers who were "Caucasian, hot and comfortable sharing a 'very romantic kiss'." According to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, the actors have been cast: "Benny Ciaramello (Friday Night Lights' Santiago) and Road Rules grad David Giuntoli have been tapped."
No word on when that episode might air.

I love the guy from FNL (the best show on TV)
I believe it was Marc Cherry, in an interview about Desperate Housewives a couple of years ago who said, "When we begin casting former reality stars on our show, that's when you know we have jumped the shark."
Here you go, Grey's.

I think it's great that Grey's is making this move. But why does gay mean Caucasian as often as it does?

Dave from Road Rules? Wow! I remember when he had to do that speedo task for his season... I'm definitely looking forward to this!

3D...Apparently Hollywood is stuck in the 30's. I mean who still puts a casting ad out and says they're looking for a specific ethnicity on such a diverse crew? What's wrong with JUST calling out two men to play soldiers who are hot and comfortable sharing a very romantic kiss? Would it have mattered if they weren't white? Is it a marketing issue or am I missing something?

Thank you Shabaka, I was thinking the exact same thing. I was seriouslly like " did you have to specify caucasian?"

Wow. Casting calls sound a whole lot more like personal ads than actual business

they'll get nervous and the KISS won't be that graphic. It happens every time on American TV. I say bring it on, but watch and see.......

As for the "Caucasian" thing...
1-- One of the soldiers might be a relative of anther character who has been cast(thus same race, or they have to explain why not)
2-- Another story line in the same episode might be about people of race A and another about race B, thus this scene needs people of race C... It's called a balanced show, and Grey's, having a black creator, is strong on minorities and balance.
3-- If there is a reason that one guy has to be race C, then either the other one does, too, or the interracial thing enters as a diversion.
As much as a TV drama is great to show diversity --- they are creating a visual, and need to make the visual work.
MEANWHILE, SEND THESE 2 TO ME FOR KISSING LESSONS.
