McCain Openness to Gay Republicans Upsets Wingnut

Right-wing "pro-family" groups are apoplectic that Arnold Schwarzenegger met with the Log Cabin Republicans last weekend as John McCain's "surrogate" and are urging McCain not to go ahead with plans he has, reportedly, to meet with the group.

Peter_labarberaWingnut leader of Republicans for Family Values, Peter LaBarbera, is particularly ruffled:

"I think this is significant. It was significant when George Bush ... met with the Log Cabin Federation before he became president -- and it doesn't surprise me that McCain is doing it. I think the danger is that when you try to be pro-homosexual and pro-family at the same time, it doesn't work...So, it becomes difficult for John McCain to say he's supporting efforts to protect marriage and also supporting the Log Cabin Republicans. I just think this is the problem with the 'big tent' [philosophy] in general in the Republican Party."

If you'lll remember, last time we heard from LaBarbera he was showing off his collection of gay fetish movies.

  1. I think it's just fine with me if Peter's LeatherBarbra wants to alienate even more people from the "party". Eventually his numbers will dwindle to the unanimous, self-righteous number of one where he can sit and twiddle himself in the dark with a bucket of fried chicken wings and fetish porn and the rest of society may be relieved of his vile presence.

    Rot in peace, Peter.

  2. If you want the Republican party to be the big tent party. McCain needs to court groups like Log Cabin, who really know how to pitch tents.

  3. What an asshole! "Pro-gay" and "pro-family" don't work together?! Last time I checked they worked together just fine.

  4. You took the words out of my mouth, Shane.

What an asshole. Both of my parents, and in fact EVERY member of my family is both pro-homosexual and pro-family.

  5. Peter La Barbarian needs to untwist his knickers and realize that gay people are part of the American fabric. You need to get more circulation to your brain, Peter.

  6. Yes, and this because George Bush was so compassionate to gays and gay rights upon meeting with the Log Cabin Republicans, and never used gay hatred to get conservative voters to the polls (?). Don't worry your pretty little comb-over, LaBarbera, I'm pretty sure Republican homophobia can withstand another meeting with the Log Smokers.

  7. There's a Big Tent in LaBarbera's pants!

  8. As if LGBT people didn't come from families, also; LaBarbera must think we grow on trees or fall out of the sky, or some other such absurdity (like the faith that informs his politics).

LGBT people also have families of their own, so unless his organization plans to move to limit the reproductive rights of LGBT persons as well as their legal rights, then their agenda should clearly include supporting ALL families. After all, children are blameless as to who their parents are, str8 or LGBT, and the 2000 Census showed that 98% of counties throughout the entire USA have LGBT households with dependent children. What an amoral, anti-family position he truly has!

And I, too, come from both an active and strongly Christian extended family, all of whom support LGBT equality.

  9. He HAS to be gay and deeply frustrated with that state of being. There's really no other reason he'd get so...insane over it.

  10. Um, hello Peter LaBrute, just look up north of you, yup, Canada. Very pro-family and VERY pro-gay! And working just fine.

  12. Ahhhh, yet another round of right wing fodder. Is in not shameful that this possition is strictly supportive of 'family' values. As many of the comments have supported that this should be inclusive of 'all' descriptions of the the term 'family'. Children, regardless of their parents political, moral, or sexual identity possitions, are innocent and it seems this man, and his cause, wish to punish them.

It is truly sad that this is restrictive to just 'family' values, or should that be 'white' families??? Should the arrgument be to support human values? Tolerance values? Understanding values? What the world and pollitics needs most is both high ethical AND compassionate values. Not restrictive of age, race, religion or sexual identity. Someone who is a and uniter not a instigator of intolerance.

In the end, actions speak louder than words and I truely hope that both parties can see the value of including and seeking out all segments of the population, in the upcoming election.

As someone once said, "United we stand and divided we fall". Let us see the true meaning of this and see the beaming light of Lady Liberty show the world that freedom and liberty is for 'ALL' Americans!

  13. LaBarbera doesn't want to be in the same party with gays or even people who accept gays so...leave the party Mr. LaBarbera. If the religious fanatics would be so kind as to split off into their own party it would be the best thing to ever happen to the Republicans. The majority of Americans are centrists and I think without the extremists in the GOP, the party would see a huge upswing of support from Independants.

  14. First off - someone get that bitch a hair make over! Cheese and Rice! She is one ugly drag queen.

After the hair has been normalized, I recommend he take Andy's advice and go pull one. His pipe is obviously clogged.
