1,000 California Pastors Launch 'Call to Arms' on Same-Sex Marriage
Pastor Jim Garlow of the 2,500-member Skyline Church in San Diego County organized a conference call of more than 1,000 mostly Evangelical ministers yesterday to discuss strategy related to the anti-gay ballot measure headed to California's ballot in November:
"The strategy session, which included input from lawyers and political consultants, was the opening of what conservative religious leaders hope will become a massive Christian outpouring of support for the proposed amendment. The effort will include a 40-day fast leading up to election day, along with 100 days of prayer. On the weekend before the election, Garlow told the ministers, the goal would be to fill Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego and other amphitheaters with people praying for a ban on gay marriage...All told, organizers said, the ministers on the call lead congregations totaling about 1 million people."
If you remember, earlier this week I posted that the Church of Latter Day Saints is also gearing up for battle.

Maybe the State Supreme Court can give these bastards a choice between keeping their tax exempt status or let the ruling stand.. I bet they take the tax exempt status... Those greedy assholes.. If there is a god, please let them die during their fast...

Queendru, those are NOT "well-meaning people with grave concerns". They are insidious and subversive people who want to shove their religious beliefs down everyone else's throat by using the ballot box. Why do evangelicals still get tax-exempt status? Has anyone watched TBN when Rod Parsley or James Hagee is doing his rabid ranting? They get away with it by claiming they are expressing "biblical viewpoints" and as such they are protected by the Constitution's guarantee of free speech, free exercise of religion and (ironically) the prohibition of the state from interfering in the free exercise thereof of their religious practices. That charade has got to stop. Evangelicals and their stupid religion have become politicized and what they are doing is exercising a brazen interference in the affairs of state. This is subversion, if not treason. I have said it before here and I will say it again: perhaps it is time to STOMP on these people! We queers must fight back by any means necessary. It is crucial we win in California, that we turn these people back from denying U.S. citizens who happen to be gay their rights of equality under the law. If we lose in California, I'd suggest that any of us get our passports ready. They will come in handy.
