2(x)ist Passes Mario Lopez Over for Bicep Rival Nick Adams
Page Six reports today that the behind-the-scenes feud between A Chorus Line's Mario Lopez and co-star Nick Adams that began when Lopez allegedly requested that Adams cover up in their scenes together as to avoid being upstaged, has been taken one step further:
"Now the rivalry between the hunks has been pumped up with word that the men's-underwear company 2(x)ist has decided it wants Adams front and center in a shirtless ad and that it passed over Lopez. 'Mario was originally No. 1 on our radar as we planned the campaign,' said an insider. 'We were ready to call him with an offer, but then we saw Nick. He's younger, sexy, more interesting. On top of that, his body was crazy. We set up a meeting, and when he walked in, that was it. We never even looked at anyone else after that.' Jason Scarlatti, 2(x)ist's creative director, gave final approval. He told us, 'Nick's very masculine, sexy, modern. It's totally all about his body. Mario is a good-looking guy, but Nick had it. He's up and coming, the new face of sexy. He's original. He's hot.' The ad campaign was shot in one day at Via Della Pace restaurant in the East Village. The series of shots shows Adams in an unbuttoned tuxedo shirt, a bow tie and underwear. It will appear in Out's August issue first and then in other magazines."

Um... not to be the voice of cynicism here but I think it's safe to assume that Mario Lopez would have been considerably more expensive for 2(X)ist. Silly publicists... They're both beautiful however.

I have to agree that Mario was unlikely ever going to do a campaign for 2(x)ist.

Butter face.. but her face. I suggest a lot of night games with low lighting. That first shot is well light and he sort of looks like young Al Pachino. The rest bag it. Great body and a face to protect it.

Zeke, I think you have that backwards. Mario's face is adorable, and as HOOTN said, Adams is a bit of a butter face...but his body more than make up for it. It's nice to see someone new. I'm a little saturated in the Mario department lately. (still love him though)

A lot of people died in Iraq; a lot of people lost their jobs in the USA; 2 girls were shot in a ditch in Oklahoma randomly and 4 Boy Scouts were killed by a tornado in Iowa. Not to mention all the kids killed in gang violence or who OD on meth in some gay club somewhere.
If I'm not wrong, people like looking at half naked guys to help with the depressing news. It's the circle of life.

there's no accounting for taste. one's a hot twink and one's a hot man. they're both in great shape, but one is more buff.
yes, the world is full of woe. however, i don't remember this blog purporting to be an exclusive source of hard news. i guess some debbi-downers will never be satisfied until there is a universal wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth 24/7.
as far as the boy scouts go, i think it was god's retribution for discriminating against gays. yes, i know that was cold, but is that any more outlandish than what the crazy fundies might say? i wonder if pat robertson has piped up with an insired observation on this tragedy.

Let's see: Big nose, long fingers, can dance, and is openly gay versus surgically altered nose, stubby fingers, diva attitude with minimal dance talent/skill, and repeatedly denies being gay (although very "gay friendly" but minimally hung, according to reliable sources. [The gods aren't THAT generous.]
Game, set, match to the new kid in town; however, must admit that Mario really is purdier than a new set tractor tires.

Interesting perspective, Nic. I was thinking the same thing about Butte County in California. They are the ones that halted gay marriages by refusing to marry everybody.

I just saw Mario in A Chorus Line and Nick is no longer covering up. After the show I got a close up look at Mario on the sidewalk and his biceps ARE fabulous. He is also incredibly nice and polite to the throngs who want his autograph and a photo with him after the show.
