Gay SoCal Blogger 'Boy About Town' Exposed as 9/11 Scam Artist
Patric Ian Henn, a Long Beach-based gay man who writes the blog "Boy About Town" is in central Los Angeles jail awaiting extradition to Florida, the Long Beach Press Telegram reports:
"Henn, whose video segments, blog and e-mail magazine have focused on Long Beach society, politics and the gay community, as well as Hollywood, was in a Los Angeles jail awaiting extradition to Florida, where he is wanted on a fugitive arrest warrant. The 33-year-old was wanted for skipping out on his probation and failing to repay money he had received from the American Red Cross and other relief organizations following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, according to corrections records. Henn pleaded guilty in 2005 to falsely claiming his domestic partner had died in the 9-11 attack, for which the Red Cross and other charity organizations gave him more than $68,000."
After serving two years in prison, Henn went on the lam, moved to Long Beach, and attempted to create a new identity. He still owes at least $29,000 in restitution.
Henn blames his criminal activity on crystal meth on the last entry posted to his blog on July 12: "In light of what has happened to me recently, I want to assure you all that Who I was is not who I am today. This by no means excuses what I did, however during that time in my life I was heavily addicted to crystal-meth and unfortunately made some extremely poor choices that I am really not proud of. It wasn’t until some people found me, brought me to Long Beach and put me in a recovery home that I was able to begin to get my life back. I sincerely want to apologize to all of you, it hasn’t been my intent to deceive anyone in the community."

I've known a lot of guys whose lives have been turned upside down due to meth, but none of them would have ever done something as reprehensible as that. What a slap in the face to all those people and their families.

A lack of moral leadership at the head of society does not excuse our own individual behavior. If this were true, then people throughout history would be justified in doing a lot of bad things. This guy owes a debt to society; regardless of what any politician did, this guy was in the wrong. Bush bashing, which is so 2003 anyway, won't make this guy's behavior any less disturbing. I lost a friend in 9/11 and will take justice where ever I can get it.

I can't help wonder what kind of family this guy came from. Did they teach him to take responsibility for his actions or did they teach him that it's more important to get away with as much as you can and not get caught.
It seems in 2008 we have more distrusting people that we did 10 years ago.. With identity theft.. with petty crime... drugs.. etc.. As long as they can continue to get something for nothing why should they work for it???
Think about it assholes.... Not a very nice way to raise a family... Is the child to blame? Or is the parent to blame instead? Do the math....
The more this shit goes on, the less compassion we seem to have for one another and the colder and more unresponsive we become as a society.
If I ever found our my kid did something like this, I'd beat him into the next millennium and the authorities could arrest *me* for child abuse instead, cuz everything that child does is a reflection of *me* and I'm not having that tarnished by his foolish behavior queer or not... I can deal with him being queer but I can't deal with his fraudulent behavior and theft in a world where I was taught to be honest and true to myself and others at all times.

Especially when they realize how you screwed their own families out of $68 grand of government assistance that might have helped them buy food, or get medicines needed which you sniffed up your nose instead..
