Role Models

The police noted three items found inside the residence of Knoxville killer and gay and liberal hater Jim Adkisson:

"Inside the house, officers found Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder by radio talk show host Michael Savage, Let Freedom Ring by talk show host Sean Hannity, and The O'Reilly Factor, by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly."

  1. I can't wait to see if Hannity, O'Reilly, and Savage cover this news. Or if the MSM covers it....

  2. Shocked that Coulter wasn't included but - who knows - he may hate women too.

  3. There you go -- we know who the terrorist ring leaders are! Let's get Homeland Security in there and take 'em down!!

  4. The PBS "New Hour" didn't even mention this shooting. They want it to slip down the memory hole and be forgotten. Just the way Eric Alan Rudolph has been forgotten.

  7. Yes, and the Columbine killers listened to Marilyn Manson. So what?

Savage, Hannity, and O'Reilly are all deranged (particularly Savage - Andy, I think you should look into his recent controversy over comments he made about autism), but that doesn't mean they actually advocate gunning down liberal churchgoers.

  8. Here's the thing,Jordan. Savage, Hannity and their ilk promote hatred of gay and liberal people. They tell their listeners that we're the reason why their lives suck. No, they didn't pull the trigger, but it just isn't a huge stretch that their words have actually convinced people that we're the source of their grief, that we're ruining this country. There's a lot of people who will take that message and think that we're less than human, who will think we should be persecute against and even some who outright think we should just be killed.

  9. And if they continue their search of the killer's home, they'll no doubt find several very well-thumbed (and well-hidden!) issues of Honcho.

Yea but Coulter isn't a woman, not a man, just a freak of nature.

  11. I wouldn't be surprised by the cops finding Honcho. The media has noted his ex-wife...did they have kids?

  13. It's tempting to give these authors (ha!) some sort of responsibility for Adkisson's crimes, but it's like blaming Catcher in the Rye for John Hinkley. If the police had found a Michael Moore book in his house, I'm sure Fox would be reporting it, and we'd all be bitching about how it's just a coincidence and doesn't mean anything.

I know it's reeeaaally satisfying to shunt some of the blame for Adkisson onto the assholaganda, but we should have some principles about this sort of thing.

  14. Surprise!

What did anyone expect to find in this guys' home? The Feminine Mystique?

  15. Chalk this one up to the "paranoid style in American politics". Listen to Rush Limbaugh for five minutes and you get the idea pretty quickly. Liberals hate America. Liberals ruin society. Liberals create the problems their programs seek to redress.

It may be true that if America never left the cocoon of Mayberry it would be a much nicer place to live in. But that's not reality (and never really was). We're a society of strangers with few ties to bind us because capitalism is such a dynamic force in our lives. Nothing can withstand it. Not our hometowns, not our main streets, not the innumerable relationships and interdependencies that used to define American life.

So, here we are coping with reality as best we know how, trying to make it better, and getting blamed for not hating it away. How dare we care when the answer is so obvious: America was ruined by the "others": liberals, gays, blacks, feminazis, Jews, Hispanics and now Muslims.

This explanation not only drives much of our political discourse but the lives of untold millions who listen to Rush, Michael Savage, Sean, and Bill O'Reilly. America used to be a paradise. Liberals ruined it.

  16. The O'Reilly Factor "For Kids"?

  17. Saying that X or Y "ruined" America is also stating that America is "ruined", which by all accounts it is not. It'd be nice if more people took a broader perspective on things.

As to these books, a fool and his money...

    The O'Reilly Factor "For Kids"?

Kids can be douchebag Republicans too. I'd tap into that market demographic too if I were in O'Rielly's position.

  19. The police also said that the note that he left in his car said that he was upset that he couldn't get a job AND THAT HIS FOOD STAMP ALLOWANCE HAD BEEN CUT.

Doesn't he know that food stamps are a product of the "liberal movement" that supposedly drove him to this act of terrorism?
