VpWith Obama VP speculation the question of the moment, I thought I'd ask the question. Who do you think it will be?

The comments line is open...have at it.

  1. Considering the previous post today, I vote for Dan Savage! Yeah! (Rachel Meadow already has a great new job.)

Biden's a loser. He's about the worst campaigner of anyone mentioned except Wesley Clark.

  2. @NAHA:

Hey, I'm 27 and I'll definitely be in the voting both on Nov 4th!

My first pick would be Clinton, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. I really liked Biden in all of the debates. I actually thought he made sense. In politics, is that possible? -haha-

  3. "It is a shame that they didn't put Hillary at the top of the ticket."

Yes, Obama was arbitrarily "put" at the top the ticket. It's not like he got more votes or anything.

  4. Short of a resurrected Abe Lincoln himself, Hillary is the only person I can think of who can live up to the hype this VP-athon has created.

  5. Excellent analysis by Nate Silver at TNR. It's very late in the game for a VP pick and there won't be time to famliarize the public with an uknown like Edwards ("Chet WHO?") The only two with serious name recognition are Biden and Clinton. Sullivan thinks it may be Clinton because of the location (Springfield) but I doubt it. My money's on Biden (but oh would I love to wake up tomorrow and see that it's Clinton - it would suck up the media attention from now to the election and bury McCain's coverage). Plus there's much to be said for being a battleaxe in a war in which the Republicans never inteded to play nice. Either of them can boost Obama, anyone else will be a yawn.

  6. I'm betting on Biden.

  7. I had a dream it was Sebelius. In reality, I thought it's been Biden for a while now.

  8. ugh Biden who? no no no...the young voters like myself will nto vote for him....Obama talks about change and then he goes and picks some dude ??? I wouldnt vote for the guy. I LIKE HILLARY as VP...NOW that is a change i will like to see, but she is a woman . I'm sure Obama has a problem with that.

  10. Hillary!

  11. I am a democrate. I will vote for Obama. He will not win. Impossible. If democrats had any backbone, any chance of winning, they would make Hillary the nominee w/ Obama as V.P.. They can do this at the convention. Can you imagine the USA w/ 8 years of Hillary and 8 years on Obama. WOW.
Sadly, Pelosi/Reed and the rest are threatned by the Clinton. Mark my words: HILLARY 2012.

  12. Last few months I've been saying:
    #1 Kathleen Sebelius
    #2 Joe Biden

But since the waking of the Russian Bear by Georgia I'd guess I've got my ordering backwards now...

  13. BOSIE, since this sounds like possibly your first election, you don't vote separately for the Vice President. You vote jointly for the ticket, and I am doubtful you or other young people won't vote for Obama because he picks Biden as the VP candidate. Also, Biden was, in my opinion, the clear winner at each of the debates, but Clinton and Obama got all the media coverage.

  14. Please... please... please... HILLARY! I will be pissed if Obama pick Sebelius over Hillary!

  15. Dan B,

The "fucking holdup" is that McCain handed Obama the gift that keeps on giving Wednesday, in his response to the question about how many houses he owns. It's getting fantastic play all over the media, to Obama's benefit.

The second Obama's VP pick is announced, his choice becomes THE big story everywhere, and the McCain house thing will vanish from the headlines.

So I'd bet the VP announcement has been shifted back already, as late as possible. But you'll still likely see it this afternoon, they'll want it in the newscasts tonight building suspense for the first joint appearance tomorrow.

  18. He should pick one that emulates his ideals the closest and a couple that seem to be on the same page as he are: Roger Calero or Brian Moore. Those would certianly be acceptable to this group who seems to be supporting Obama; http://www.cpusa.org/article/articleview/975/1/147/.

  19. How about Ludacris? He has nearly as much experience as Saint Obama and shares the same values as his pal Reverend Wright.

  20. Kathleen Sebelius would be an absolute disaster. If you're going to pick a woman, let it be Hillary. Joe Biden? Another disaster. Biden is an OK Senator but he likes to hear himself talk and he definitely gets in trouble with his mouth. Aren't too many good candidates out there. Regardless, it has to be somebody who can help Obama wrest control of the Democratic Party from Fancy Nancy Pelosi, WJ Clinton, and Harry-the-Fairy Reid. I once was optimistic that the Democrats could sweep in November. Now, I'll be happy if they at least pick up some seats in the House and the Senate. Beyond that, I think everybody better get used to President McCain and at least four more years of grid-lock, homophobia and the continuing march of America to the unchartered shores of home-grown fascism.

  21. 24PLAY,

    good point.

I would have preferred the announcement was prior to the houses gaffe, but I see your reasoning for postponing to capture as much of the news cycle on it as possible.

    Posted by: Dan B | Aug 22, 2008 2:34:58 PM

  22. Chet Edwards = NOPE, the general public/ low info voters wouldn't get the difference between one Edwards (adultery) vs another so it won't be Chet Edwards.

Biden? = NOPE.....consummate insider, bad hair plugs, poor health with 2 brain surgeries in the past (would destroy meme about mccain's health), some not exactly racist but can be construed racist comments

    Bayh = delivers nothing

Obama isn't stupid so my money is on

    1- Hillary

2- if not Hillary then retired General Wesley Clark

  23. PS

Biden is a purposeful smoke screen (and he is totally in on it) so when the VP is announce (Hillary or Clark) it will hit the news cycle with a bigger bang = Never saw it coming.

  25. It is not going to be Hillary, and even if they hadn't put her on the bottom of the list or not at all, I wouldn't want to have anything to do them.

Why is she even out there campaigning for this cocky, arrogant guy? After everything that was said about her - her cleavage, her pantsuits, the unflattering pictures in the paper, her oh-so-shrill voice - the entire lopsided scrutiny she got versus him, why is she even involved? They areen't going to give her a cent for campaign debt anyways.

If I were her I would take a nice overseas vacation and be like "You know what - sort it out yourselves. I'm over all of you."

Second, the Kennedy's hate the Clintons, and that cold fish Caroline Kennedy was on his committee. They want to be the only Democratic dynasty. It is okay for all three Kennedy brothers to run for President and for Ted Kennedy to be a Senator for a hundred years - but God forbid Hillary runs. Then the Clintons are power hungry and out of control. But it is okay for every Kennedy to be in public service. They are just as hypocritcal about that as they are about wind power farms near their precious Hyannis.

    Vomit.
