Church: Katy Perry Going to Hell Along with the Gays

Havens Corners Church in Blacklick, Ohio offers a sermon on its sign about Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" song.
Said the Rev. Dave Allison, pastor of the 100-member church: "It's not something that is really a shock if you're a scriptural person. We meant that as a loving warning to teens. … The Scriptures tell us that you should not do what the song tells you to do. The Scriptures are not ambiguous on this issue."
Some neighbors (who don't and do know the song in reference) have been sending in complaints. Said Wendy Olinski of Reynoldsburg: "It was obvious: 'If you're gay, you're going to hell.' At first I have to say I laughed hysterically because I was shocked. But that's going way too far. It's just rude."

I got to this site via Dlisted and am not gay, so forgive me if I am not educated on all gay issues. I do have a question, however. Why do you guys seem to be so pro Obama? I am an independent who is pro gay marriage and see both parties as anti-gay. The democrats are just not honest about it. Obama says gay marriage is for the states, but something like 40 states have bans on it. That is like saying I think schools should be desegregated but I'll leave it to the states. Half the country would still be segregated with his passive aggressive approach. At least the republicans are honest about their bigotry. If someone hates me, I'd rather them say it to me face.

Well, DAVID, it's similar to the relationship that Black Americans have with the Democratic Party. The Democrats will say to Gay Ameicans, "give you something: civil rights, job protection, anti-discrimination laws." THe Republicans will give you nothing, and even say, "we don't want you."

David, if you'd like to educate yourself, why don't you compare Obama's and McCain's views on gay issues (marriage isn't the only one, actually):

As you will see, they have very different positions on gay issues with Obama (imperfect on marriage, it's quite true) decidedly pro-gay and McCain decidedly anti-gay. I'm not sure where you get the idea that Democrats hate gay people. Some Democrats are bigots, of course, but the majority is on our side. The fact that Republicans are more open about expressing their bigotry is hardly a recommendation for voting Republican unless, like the Log Cabin Republicans, you enjoy cheering on people who believe you're less than human.
Hope that helps dissolve your confusion.

Since someone mentioned the church sign generator, I wanted to remind you all of the Colbert On Notice Board generator.

@paul r: me, embrace the gop? honey, i embrace no one but my husband... well, except for a devastatingly handsome spectacularly built black baristo at our local queer starbucks whose muscles i got to feel up the other day.... ah, if i didn't believe in the sanctity of gay marriage i wouldn't hesitate to have an affair with him if the occasion arose and the price was right, but $20 tricks these days are few and far between....

you know...i'm a Christian...and that really really makes me sad...someone quoted a verse about not judging...it's true! saddens me when Jesus came to earth to love, not to condemn and this is what people who call themselves Christ-followers do...
sad

Wow, at least the church is finally being blatantly upfront about their views on gay people. This is a prime example of why so many people are not religious. Who wants to devote your time and faith to a religion that judges people and condemns individuals to hell for their sexuality? The only idea they are projecting is that religious people are judgemental and homophobic!
