McCain Declares Victory in Debate That Hasn't Started Yet
John McCain has decided to participate in the presidential debate — his delay tactics haven't worked — and he's already declaring victory according to ads placed on websites.
Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post writes:
"Although the fate of tonight's presidential debate in Mississippi remains very much up in the air, John McCain has apparently already won it -- if you believe an Internet ad an astute reader spotted next to this piece in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal this morning. 'McCain Wins Debate!' declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background. Another ad spotted by our eagle-eyed observer featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis declaring: 'McCain won the debate-- hands down.'"
Cillizza provided a screenshot of said page.

At least he didn't say "Mission Accomplished"

So, the ad was probably up during the period in which McCain's campaign was "suspended" and while wasn't planning on showing up for the debate?
Has there ever been a more cynical campaign than McCain's?

Well...he's getting on in years...maybe he thinks that the debate already happened.

The logical extension of "Mission Accomplished"

I'm still waiting for Palin to bow out, you know it's got to happen.

People forget now that McCain was Dewey's running mate.

This was a simple error in ad scheduling. It happens all the time. The scary party is that I'm sure this ad was meant to start after the debate. They've already bought the ad-space, so apparently they're running this ad no matter what happens at the debate tonight.
Also notice the ad is made to look like it could be a headline on WSJ, and not an advertisement.
Sleazy.

This morning on morning Joe = Joe Scarsborough (former florida repub congress critter turned news host on MSNBC)
Joe, Pat "slavery was great" anti-semite Buchanan, and former mcshame campaign manager Mike Murphy
Joe - "....it's obvious she has very little knowledge of US facts......is this is the best person you can find for Vice President? but what does this say about Palin and McCain's judgment?"
Mike - "The McCain camp has problems, because it seems CBS has more footage, and it's not any better, then what we've already seen."
etc.
They all basically agreed that Palin is not VP material

"New National Poll Finds McCain/Palin Leads Obama/Biden 45% To 43%; Running Ahead Among Men"
Well, the above fact plus the Iraq War just proves that after 400 years of ruling the earth, you can still be arrogantly stupid.
"Come on, guys, we kinda' beat 'em 1,000 years ago...let's have another Crusade against the Muslims!"

"This is the second national poll in a series produced at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., with Hearst-Argyle; the partnership, whose first poll was in June 2008"
ROFLMAO Their 2nd national poll. Dude, your grandmother reading tea leaves can do a better job than people nobody has ever heard of doing only their 2nd national poll
LOL
Their 2nd national poll
LOL
All other pollsters who have yrs and tens of thousands of national polls as a track record have Obama ahead
LOL
---------------------------------------
Hogb
Zogby? LOL
17th place on accuracy out of 32 pollsters during the primaries, with their internet interactive polls ranking 31st place out of 32
LOL
Not a great track record
The tops during the primaries (track records show the probability of accuracy now)Selzer at #1 and SUSA at #2 Rasmussen at #3 etc (which all show Obama winning)
Zogby at 17th (midway point)out of 32 Their telephone poll branch) while their internet polling branch ranks at 31st place out of 32
LOL
Repubs are desperate and delusional
Oh and back to the countess, your poll doesn't even rank !!!! LOL since this is only their 2nd national poll ever taken
LOL
Thanks for the laughs guys. That felt good

PS
Lets just do play with zogby for a moment.
Taking 17th place for their telephone polls + 31st place for their internet interactive polling = average
24th place out of 32 national pollsters
and let me reiterate that countess de done gone crazy's cited pollster doesn't even rank because it is their freaking 2nd national poll ever
ROFLMAO
Time to put down those crack pipes kids.

JimmyB: I think you qualify for your own blog, please go pick up your prize at the front desk, thank you.
I was a little surprised by the debate as both did better than I thought they would, though McCain was a bit spacey in the beginning--in a kind of "where am I?" kind of way. After months of dealing with the ever wonky HRC, Obama seemed rather in command of the facts on foreign policy, which will no doubt help him, though he still will need a few extra votes to counteract racists who are lying in these polls, etc.
