  1. Frightening. But the irony. Miss Kentucky knows that Spain is our ally, but apparently McCain doesn't.

  2. I'm sorry but that video of the Kentucky hicks is absolutely revolting and disgusting.

But it also seems staged, can quite put my finger on it, but it kind of looks like they're doing it for the cameras.

Also, it looks to me that the cameraman is goading that stupid lady and her male companions on to continue their racist rants.

I'd even hazard a guess that it's a set-up by some Obama supporters to start a furor by encouraging people like them -- southern, lowly educated, Hillary or McCain supporters -- to rant against Obama.

But whatever it is, that is some absolutely disgusting rant and it's sickening to know such people exist. Makes you also wonder if there are the "black" equivalents of these people in this country too. Oh man!

  3. OK, after listening to Miss Rural Kentucky, I am praying that particle accelerator on the Swiss border DOES create a black hole that swallows the planet.

  4. wow.
    just... wow.
and yet, somehow, sadly, not all that surprising.

  6. Perhaps THIS is "why they hate us."

  7. That repulsive Kentucky video has been on YouTube for more than 3 months. Why give it more exposure now?

    Posted by: bcarter3 | Sep 26, 2008 6:16:53 PM

  8. To be fair, I don't think we should look down on or make fun of these people in the video so much. I find the video sad. People are people and they deserve respect like every other American. They are simply misinformed. These are the people that need to be reached out to so that they can make INFORMED decisions, regardless of which side of the aisle they are on.

  9. Brent, the notion that all people deserve respect is a sweet canard, but it's not true. Stupid people who spew hateful ignorance aren't ever going to make informed decisions. Respect is earned, not automatically dispensed, and not every American deserves it. Not by a long shot.

  10. Cloris is amazing, 82, huh? I only wish I can dance like her and Derrick at that age. Just a joke honey, we loves you.

  11. While people may enjoy ranting about the woman from Kentucky, don't forget that there have been people commenting on here saying they would never vote for someone who was "half American and half Muslim" and similar. Hateful ignorance isn't confined to the backwoods.

    Posted by: MAJeff | Sep 26, 2008 6:34:59 PM

  12. Everyone, welcome to my world...

The next time I go back to the backwoods where I was raised will be too soon. I spent 22 years of my life surrounded by hateful, close-minded individuals...it's kinda sad in retrospect.

BE WARNED...The rural South is filled with people who talk like that, think like that, look like that...I'm so glad I moved away.

But listening to the girl from Kentucky has brought back that vicious accent that took me so long to lose. Dagummit!

  13. The Kentucky woman just saddened me because I believe there's a lot of people who may be more articulate but may feel the same way she does.

  15. Well said, DB. That woman has an excuse - what excuse do the well-educated, middle-class, urban voters have? What about the people at FOX NEWS who spread lies and propagate the myth that Obama is a muslim? If rural voters in Kentucky should know better then the rest of the anti-Obama crowd should really be ashamed of themselves.

  16. Thanks for posting the Kentucky video. It's so seldom that I get to see the folks back home.

    Hi mom!

  17. Not about Kentucky. Chloris Leachman. Did anyone see her on Bonnie Hunt? THE SINGLE FUNNIEST THING I have seen all year.

  18. I've adored Cloris since her Last Picture Show and MTM days. She's a brilliant actress and lots of fun. Circa 1983 she was filming a TV movie behind my college apartment and happily gave me an autograph signed, All Love, Cloris. She was a crowd pleaser then, too. Mambo on, girl!

  19. The most sobering part of this little "window into quaint rural America" is that her vote counts as much as any Harvard educated Manhattan Liberal. Apparently this woman is a registered voter and intends to excessive her right to use the privilege. This is why we MUST be out in numbers on November 4, and carpool any like minded neighbor we can find. Because if we loose this election, people who cater to "Miss Kentucky" and others with her mindset will be deciding life changing decisions. This includes the empty seats of the Supreme Court, who are around far longer than 4 years. Vote for your life people....

  21. I think Cloris Leachman is a great actress, as anyone who has seen "The Last Picture Show" can agree with.

But I think someone now has Norma Desmond syndrome...

  22. Thanks for that Rural Kentucky video. Now, every time someone doubts me when I say that the there are some effed up people in the south, I've got a video to prove it to them.

And for the person who thinks that video was "staged", I've got news for you, it has not been staged. It's scary, but there are too many people out there who are just like the folks in that video. I should know, I grew up in rural Mississippi, which is surprisingly just like those people in the video.
