It's Fright Week in Pottsville

Obama effigy found hanging at University of Kentucky: "It is with profound sadness that I must report to you that an effigy of Obama was found hanging from a tree on campus this morning. It was taken down immediately, but the damage and hurt will linger for a long time. I literally feel sick to my stomach. There will be a statement from the President shortly, and we are also considering other expressions of outrage. In the meantime, please alert your staff and be prepared to counsel students, staff, and faculty of color, in particular, as needed."
Deer head found outside Obama office in Colorado Springs: "The Humane Society says the buck's antlers had been cut off to make the head resemble a donkey, the symbol of the Democratic Party. Right now, police have no suspects."

I' am sooo...embarrassed! These people DO NOT represent the people of Central Pennsylvania. Their actions just dig them deeper in to their area's demise.

The extreme, hateful, negative energy of that video just explodes off the screen.
Truly terrifying and tragic. I hope that hate recedes and logic and new understanding prevails come Nov 5.
President Obama is only 6 days away... SO exciting!!!!!!!

BC, on October 27th, in the comment section of the "Palin hung in effigy" thread I wrote, and I quote:
"Mark my words, in a week or so from now when someone brings up the backwards "B" hoaxster or some other right wing nut, SOMEONE will come onto the Towleroad discussion and say either, "It's funny that none of the liberals said a word when those guys hung Sarah Palin in effigy" or "All you liberals laughed DEFENDED those guys who hung Sarah Palin in effigy".
You can put MONEY on it. It never fails and no amount of archival evidence will dissuade them from their delusion."

The Towleroad comments on this story were virtually 100% condemning of the stupid men in West Hollywood who hung the Palin manequin in effigy.
Amazingly you proved my point and it didn't even take "a week or so" for you to do it. You managed to do EXACTLY what I predicted in a mere TWO days.

This video both horrifies me and breaks my heart. I live 70 miles away from Pottsville geographically, but a million miles away from this mindset and way of thinking. It illustrates perfectly the reasons I have been on the phone almost nonstop to my fellow Pennsylvanians to try to break through some of this bigotry and racism and elect Obama as our next President. The most interesting pattern I have noticed is that the 35-50 year olds are the most virulent and overtly racist and suspicious and will happily spout their views to you; whereas the older >70 crowd seems to be quite enthusiastic about Obama! I hope the youth and the seniors come out in full force on Tuesday in this state and deliver it to Obama. We must have hope and keep fighting. I know I will.
