Get Your Official 'Burning Cross' From the American Family Association

Burning

The American Family Association is selling this holiday item, which happens to look exactly like a burning cross the KKK or some other hate group might leave in the front yard.

Get all the effects of real fire without all the mess.

What an appropriate item from one of the nation's largest groups known for using the Bible as a weapon of hate against others.

  2. Oh my gosh, that is DISGUSTING, and, next we'll hear that they didn't know that that thing has a meaning of hate.

  3. umm.. so, is this a symbol of their faith burning into ashes? are they conceding this early in the game? Hope not, I really would love to play some more.

  4. It's about time we take the Christ out of Christmas.
It's a gross overstepping of bounds.

  5. OH MY GOD!!!

I don't know if I want to laugh my ass off, or cringe.

I wonder if Jon Stewart will have something to say...?

  8. I think it needs twinkle lights. Red, orange, yellow and white twinkle lights.

    Very festive.

  9. I bought one of these and was going to put it on my black neighbors steps because I don't like that they are more tan than I but unfortunately they did not have an outside outlet on their porch and I did not have enough extension cord to run back to my house. Of course now that gas is cheap, I may go back to the old cross-burning ways lol. (This is sarcasm. I am not a racist)

  10. Having grown up in the religious right, I can safely say, they can be this naive. As ill-advised as the item is, let's remember they are not placing lighted crosses in the yards of others and believe that they, which happen to include many African Americans, though I doubt few of them will snatch up this particular item, are "sharing" their faith. Personally, I think the money would be better spent on those in need, but to each their own.

  11. I can't get past the expensive looking doors. A televangelist must live there.

  12. From archival photographs, we learn that the Klan indeed uses lighted crosses like these for initiations if they must be done indoors. The whole point during the ritual isn't the fire, it's the lighted cross. It is only a secondary consideration that, because it's burning, the Kross is also scary and intimidating.

  13. This is why you need diverse focus groups for product development, not just KKK members.

  15. It is a laugh-inducing cringe kind of thing to look at. I am not religious, in any way shape or form, but I DO believe that the majority of those who are, even/especially(?) fundamentalists really believe they are sharing/declaring their faith and wouldn't ever see it for what it is – a friggin burning crucifix! As mentioned above, it doesn't seem to be intended to place on others' properties... I also believe these are the majority of people who would be offended, to say the least, if were to have any gay-themed holiday decor in front of my house...

  17. This is the group that recently began a boycott of Hallmark Cards because they started offering gay wedding cards. In September I sent them a Rosh Hoshana card from Hallmark.
