Prince Indicates He Approves of God Striking Down Gays

And all those other evil sinners.
R&B singer Prince, who's now a Jehovah's Witness, indicates in a 'Talk of the Town' piece in The New Yorker that he agrees with the most anti-gay interpretations of the Bible:
"Recently, Prince hosted an executive who works for Philip Anschutz, the Christian businessman whose company owns the Staples Center. 'We started talking red and blue,' Prince said. 'People with money—money like that—are not affected by the stock market, and they’re not freaking out over anything. They’re just watching. So here’s how it is: you’ve got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to this.' He pointed to a Bible. 'But there’s the problem of interpretation, and you’ve got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesn’t. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got blue, you’ve got the Democrats, and they’re, like, 'You can do whatever you want.' Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.' When asked about his perspective on social issues—gay marriage, abortion—Prince tapped his Bible and said, 'God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, 'Enough.''"

Brandon,
Um, that is a direct quote. I think Prince made his point.

Prince can take his Bible and stick it "wherever."

Somebody should put up a clip of Her Pathetic Purpleness in the battub with Jerome benton in "Under the Cherry Moon."
Amd when they take it down, put it up AGAIN!!!
Oh and Princess, what about you're little protege Tevin? Did he Top you?

i wouldn't care what the midget thinks even if i liked his music

Not shocked nor surprised, he is after all a Jehovah's Witness and they sweep child molestation under the table or blame the victim and just as annoying/creepy as all out knocking on your door.
And, doesn't his "faith" say the world was supposed to have ended over a 100 years or ago or so, Princess, next joke please.

the li'l shrimp is both a genius and a nutbar.
I went to a concert of his some years ago, and i was way too close to the stage, he seemed like a puppy in heat about to spray, a midget and a brat... i had to leave the concert early, the close-up reality is that he's ridiculous.
it's a shame that he felt his life was so empty that he needed to escape thru religion... altho that does seem to also be Madonna's tailspin.

What a woman.

Jason: "God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, 'Enough.''"
How is the above statement, which references the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (and misinterprets the story, but that's a different concept). His claim that God saw "people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever" and destroyed them is a blatant endorsement of raining down "fire and brimstone" on gays. Thus, Andy's title is a fair assessment of Prince's statement.

I'm just surprised he could touch a bible without it bursting into flames....
Poster above "Asshole formerly known as Prince"....Too funny - Luv ya!
Poster above complaining about facts - did you read the article in the "New Yorker"

this is depressing if its true.
i'm a massive prince fan, and so its a struggle for me to find a way to reconcile listening to his music when his views on gay's are so hateful.

On the Purple Rain soundtrack, Prince wrote & sang a song called "I Would Die 4 U." I could now compose its sequel, addressed to Prince, entitled "U R Dead 2 Me."

When it comes to Prince, I'm like "Enough."

The Jehovah's Witnesses are a dying religion and are sadly out of touch with reality. They demand their followers stay apart from "the world" and remain ignorant about that world yet don't hesitate to judge non Witnesses. He's talking out of his ass.

I laughed my ass off when Kevin Smith told his anecdote about filming a documentary for Prince, and all the weirdness that spilled out of that project. This fits the Prince he described pretty damn well.

"God came to earth..." Jehovah's Witness don't believe Jesus was God on earth, they believe he was God's son, NOT God. Something with this interview does not smell right.

Prince - the man is sweeter then SUGAR...GAYER then Christmas...and when he speaks..HIGH HEELS fly out of his mouth....He's Dead to me!

This is heartbreaking because I was a big Prince fan. I guess it doesn't really matter because he doesn't even perform his racy material anymore ('Little Red Corvette' is one of bis best). Doesn't he know the bible was also used against blacks & women?

I knew there was something wrong with that kid.
Posted by: Rafael | Nov 17, 2008 1:41:54 PM
Spanky,
I think he's basically saying that both sides are wrong and that the only one who interprets the Bible correctly is him.

I blame the Jehovah's Whiteness religion for ruining Prince. I doubt he believed in this shit early in his career.
End of story.
Prince I still idolize your style and music but your religious beliefs are a damn shame.
I really wished you would not go down the same path as Vanity (basically shunning the past in favor of religion), but somehow you did.

As far as I'm concerned Prince can "stick it" to himself.
Also, other famous Jehovah's Witnesses are Michael Jackson and Sherri Shepard from the View. Holy Crap!

"This is heartbreaking because I was a big Prince fan."
Don't worry, SCAR@, you can still love his music. I'm a big fan of Hank Williams Sr and Pastsy Cline...I don't think they were too fond of people like me.
