For My Wife

Here's a powerful trailer for For My Wife..., a film that had its premiere in Seattle in October, and is being screened again at the Palm Springs Film Festival this week. The documentary reveals the urgent need for equal rights for gay and lesbian couples and the power that one individual can have to achieve success in this area via the tragic story of Washington state resident Kate Fleming's death and the committed response of her partner Charlene Strong.

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  2. This horrific incident occurred to me at a hospital in Atlantic City, NJ in 2002.

My partner of over 23 years was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. I requested to see him and was denied access because I was only his life partner. The woman told me I didn't have any rights.

I was enraged and was physically held back by my family.

Luckily a compassionate RN and Dr. intervened.

But as the attending physician approached me I knew my fate was sealed.

My partner Dan died at the age of 47.
