Milk a Contender as Oscar Nominations are Announced

The team who made Milk is likely celebrating this morning, as the film, which was pretty much snubbed by the Hollywood Foreign Press, just received eight Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor for Sean Penn, Best Supporting Actor for Josh Brolin, Best Screenplay and Best Director. It also received nods for Best Editing, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Score.

  2. Paul R: Penn won an Oscar for 'Mystic River.' I think he & Rourke are the faves for Best Actor & I think voters might go for Rourke cuz Penn has already won.

  3. Re: the Bruce Springsteen snub... I think there is some rule that, depending on how many songs receive nominations, that dictates how many final nominees there are. Much the same with the Animated Feature category where there are only 3 nominees as opposed to the "usual" 5. Great songs from Slumdog Millionaire... fantastic movie, would love to see it get even more attnetion.

  4. What I can't believe is how EVERYONE, press, gay fans etc, are missing the performance of Diego Luna in Milk. It was amazing and really showed his range as an actor.
