Robertson: USA Heads for 'Garbage Heap of History' Over Gay Rights

Patrobertson

Pat Robertson proves once again what a wonderful spokesperson he is for the Bigoted Uninformed Christian community:

"A month to celebrate gay, lesbian, transgender pride month? Somebody's proud of being transgendered? It's a tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of our population. One to two percent has this particular orientation, yet they dominate the news. It's just smiply amazing. Any country that openly embraces homosexuality throughout the history of mankind has gone down into ruin. Thats history. Thats the historical record. Whatever nation embraces this so-called lifestyle, it ends up in the garbage heap of history. So, lets watch what happens."

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  2. Isn't "religion" the main cause of most wars? You are pathetic and should be ashamed of yourself.

  4. The true face of evil --- this man does not want a Secular Democratic America to exist at all. Just as Al Queda does not want Secular Democratic nations to exist in the Middle East.

    He wants a Theocracy. Period.
He misses the point - the fight against widespread religion based bigotry against a small minority group is what is getting news coverage.

A true traitor to American Value.

  5. "So-called lifestyle"? I thought people like him were usually eager to call it a lifestyle.

  6. Let's see, Rome (and that's usually what these loons are referring to) lasted 400 years as a Republic and 400 years as an Empire with "teh gays" in control (since PR wants to go there, let's go there).

When the Christians took control of Rome, the Empire split into 2 and Europe became (by and large) a cultural backwater (outside of the monestaries) for nearly 1,000 years.

So who took who to the garbage heap, Pat?

  7. Mind you, it's waaaaaay more complicated than that as far as Rome is concerned. But...just sayin...

  8. Statistically, there are more gay Americans than there have been parishioners in any real church with which Pat Robertson has ever been involved as a real clergyman. So exactly who's over-exposed?

And of course he's wrong on point of historical fact. In addition to the obvious Greek and Macedonian examples, the several centuries in which Rome was in its prime were the most accepting homosexual activity. Christian Rome was the Rome of the decline.

And I believe Eastern civilizations in China, India and the rest of Asia offer even better examples (not my field though).

Historically, acceptance of homosexuality has tended to accompany urbanization, cosmopolitanism, economic and cultural growth, etc. Of course Pat doesn't care about facts, and his viewers are too stupid to know or learn.

Now let's see how long it takes to post this, based on how many times the Google add appears right over the CAPTCHA.

  9. FIXED!
"A month to celebrate really really old fossilized television for-profit evangelists

  10. And some people in our community are directing their anger at Barack Obama and the Democrats??? Keep your eye on the REAL enemy people. We need our allies, imperfect as they may be.

  11. Communism tended to treat homosexuals as bourgeois deviants. Fascism tried to kill them off. Both species of regime have tended to have shorter lifespans than gay-friendly Rome or Athens.

  12. Actually, Pat Robertson's the deviant here. Can't he just die already?

    Posted by: RP | Jun 18, 2009 12:27:05 PM

  13. At least his tone is one of surrendering to history when he says, "Let's see what happens." At least he has realized that no matter how correct or godly he thinks he is, the current movement toward full equality is bigger than him, than any ultra-conservative-government-just-small-enough-to-fit-in-one's-bedroom resistance.

  14. Isn't it a sin to lie? Isn't self-righteousness in the face of God a sin? Didn't Jesus say that all that came before him is no more? So Pat Robertson hates Jesus? He's calling a widely-regarded (maybe not in his little world) biological condition a life-style, when in reality religion is a choice and a life-style. If he spits on life-styles, turn the fan on him and let him spit in his own face--and given the venom he spews, he better duck.

  15. What "history" would he be referring to? According to him, the world was supposed to have ended, several times, in the 1970's.

Pat Robertson is a snake oil salesman who, if there is a Hell, will surely be there burning for all eternity.

  16. "Any country that openly embraces homosexuality throughout the history of mankind has gone down into ruin." So now he's a world historian too? This man is mad and a threat to children.

  17. From the song Affirmation by the grp Savage Garden, the lyrics "I Believe that God does NOT endorse TV Evangelists"!!!!

  18. and the sickening part - look at that young black woman smiling away....hmmm, wonder if 50yrs ago she'd be all smiles if he said the same thing about Black History Month??? so typical...the " I got my rights, screw you now" crowd.

  19. ".......Any country that openly embraces homosexuality throughout the history of mankind has gone down into ruin............"

    Just the opposite in fact

The greatest civilizations in history that spanned time periods far far older than america is not only enjoyed some form of male on male love but some of their gods/myths even glorified such

  20. how is this man stil alive?

  21. Pat Robertson seems to be ga-ga and yet The 700 Club folks refuse to ease him off the airwaves and into a nice assisted living facility.

  22. Why is ANYONE taking this ridiculous, insane bigot seriously? Wasn't this the man who called for the bombing of the State Department a few years back?

He's old, he'll die soon and the world will be a better place for it. And that will be that.

    Posted by: Terry | Jun 18, 2009 1:26:14 PM

  23. Oh Patty Robertson, please continue to enlighten "Christian" Americans with the garbage water spewing from your mouth. When will you hurry up and end your ignorant slosh and allow everyone to be happy?

    Posted by: KFLO | Jun 18, 2009 1:38:37 PM

  24. God why isn;t he dead yet? By now he should be in HELL sipping tea with Hitler.

    Posted by: Wolfie | Jun 18, 2009 1:44:42 PM

  25. Garbage heap of history? Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Egypt, etc. They all died a natural death. "All empires contain within it the seeds of its own destruction".

The only country, I would think, that would be the "garbage heap of history" would be 1940's Germany.... and look what they did to the gays.
