McCain Booed for Saying Obama Respects the Constitution

At an Arizona town hall on Tuesday, John McCain was booed for saying he believes that Obama respects the Constitution. If you'll remember (and how can you forget), McCain and Palin's campaign stops were the genesis of the angry mobs we now see at health care town halls.

And here's more from DailyKos on Michelle Bachmann, Tom Coburn, and Chuck Grassley. It just keeps getting uglier.

Watch McCain's town hall, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Meghan McCain tweeted that video...It was...well...that old lady needs to STFD and STFU.

  2. There's no fool like an old fool. Oddly enough I'm speaking about McPamper's audience, not him.

He and Sarah Palin cynically exploited the prejudices of his audience in an attempt to get elected to the White House, and now he finds he put put the lid back on the Pandora's box.

What must he think of his own voters? They're so stupid most of them now actually believe that Obama's a Kenyan blood drinking homosexual black vampire come to pull the plug on Grandma and shred the Constitution.

  3. Negative politics = negative reactions. Not a surprise.

  4. Okay - time out- Lets look at the make up of Sun City, AZ - 87% of the population is over 73. 89% consider themselves staunch republicans (luckily they're all be dead soon)-
and (actual statistic) 81% drive a golf cart as their main means of getting around (they have inner-city roads DEVOTED to golf carts).

This entire town hall meeting is basically a KKK rally. Fuck 'em all.

ps. while they were all there, i went door to door removing ALL the batteries from their 'Life Alert' devices.

  5. It's nice to see Republicans getting bitten by the monster they created.

One thing about mobs when you whip them into a frenzy; there will come a point where you're going to ultimately lose whatever control you had over them.

  6. Oh, those crazy old racist farts.

  7. I watched a pretty lengthy live segment of that townhall meeting, and luckily, there were a few sane folks- mostly women- who spoke and pointed out the misinformation many of these people had. It was pretty telling that many of them quoted FoxNews, and it's sad to think Grandma and Grandpa are only getting their information from that so-called network.

  8. Can we evaluate protest and civil disobedience merely on the basis of our own assessment of its moral content? ACT UP did some wild things in its day--it often backfired PR-wise.

  9. Live by the sword, die by the sword. He let the genie out of the bottle. Can't think of any more sayings but he deserves it all. Starting this ball rolling could be his historical footnote.

  10. I just cannot watch this stuff any more. Makes me sick!

  11. When I see McCain at a rally, all I really wonder is:

"Where is the 'Obama's a Muslim!' lady?" That woman makes every rally a fun rally!

    Posted by: Drew | Aug 26, 2009 3:56:04 PM

  12. I'm sorry, could someone explain the "racist" aspect of this video? What makes it a KKK rally?

If you're looking at a whole group of people you don't know and ascribing a negative characteristic to them as a whole -- based on NOTHING but your own imagination and their race -- then I'm pretty sure YOU are the racists. Yeah, I'm certain of it actually.

  13. As an Arizonan, I am not surprised at the rants and boos of the conservative farts from Sun City. Frommer had it right when he advised that he would not travel to Arizona due to the gun-toting crazies that think this is still the old West. They are racist, loony, narrow-minded and greedy bastards. They will hold tight to their government sponsored Medicare and gleefully drop their Social Security checks at the Indian casinos. But pay a few bucks in taxes to help out the less fortunate? SOCIALISM!

  14. From Paul C: If you're looking at a whole group of people you don't know and ascribing a negative characteristic to them as a whole - based on NOTHING but your own imagination and their race - then I'm pretty sure YOU are the racists. Yeah, I'm certain of it actually.

You mean kinda like a whole crowd of people looking at a black man, who they claim is secret muslim, born in kenya, who's a philipino citizen one day, then a secret communist socialist the next, waiting to take your guns, your rights and screw your daughters...

    You mean kinda like that?

As the man said- It look like a KKK rally, but without the sheets - Hey Paul C; you think Lupita might be out cleaning them in the river with a stone?

Posted by: roger ramjet | Aug 26, 2009 8:12:31 PM

  15. Yeah Roger, the whole crowd in the video said that Obama is a secret Muslim etc. When did you have time to go there and poll every single one of those people about that?

Oh, that's right, they're mostly one race and we all know that all members of each race fulfill every negative racial stereotype of their group. Clearly they are all gun toting daughter fucking KKK grand wizards.

And you're not a racist hatemonger.

  16. Oh, and there they are... the GOP-lovers crawling out from under their rocks... defending the people with no information, misinformation and hatred for anything that is not totally self-serving! * yawn * If only these people at these rallies would love the facts as much as they love their fervent hatred of change and fairness, life would be so much easier!

  17. Paul C,

Don't worry we don't consider all caucasians racist. Just like you don't like Obama we don't like these caucasians idiots at the Town Halls acting a fool.

Rememeber these creeps call themsleves "REAL AMERICANS"...Really???

I think not but are they candidates for The Sarah Stalin KooKoo for Cocoa Puffs Funny Farm?

    Posted by: Undeniably | Aug 27, 2009 1:23:43 AM

  18. CKNJ,

"...defending people with no information, misinformation and hatred for anything that is not totally self-serving..."

Are all republicans like that or just some? Does that include independents also?

    Posted by: JasonFreed | Aug 27, 2009 8:27:30 AM

  19. Paul C made an observation just the same as everyone here. Our perceptions create our reality. If you watched this video and presumed that they were ALL racists you have some preconceived notions regarding race. That is just the way it is. We all come to the table with our own set of beliefs and ideals and each of us believe that we are "true Americans".

However, the far left is merely a mirror image of the far right. Both groups are "racist, loony, narrow-minded and greedy bastards" or whatever negative term you should choose to use. I am just as scared of the far left loonies as I am of the far right loonies!

    Posted by: RB | Aug 27, 2009 9:16:20 AM

  20. I don't think they are all racists, I don't know them. I do have serious doubts about their patriotism. Luckily, in the new order having a different set of views isn't grounds for being banned or attacked as it was during the last 8 yrs. So, go on Granny and Gramps, fly your ignorance flag high!

This is America and under President Obama you have that right again. So order up some Freedom Fries and sit back and be as ignorant and unpatriotic as you want to be!

Posted by: derek washington | Aug 27, 2009 1:57:26 PM

  21. " I am just as scared of the far left loonies as I am of the far right loonies!"

RB, this is 2009, not 1971. There is no Far Left in the United STates anymore. Hell, there aint no Far Left in Europe or Latin America anymore.

And don't tell me about Leftist Guerillas in Latin America. Their social/political desires would make them about as militant as Liberal Democrats here.

Who's the most far left voice on Towleroad? Bill Perdue, of course. Could imagine him blowing up anything? Maybe a good-looking man.

Posted by: Derrick from Philly | Aug 27, 2009 2:34:31 PM

  22. Derek, give it a rest. The number of free speech rights lost from 1/20/2001 to 1/20/2009: 0. The number of free speech rights lost since 1/20/2009: 0. To actually lose free speech in this country would require all states to ratify an amendment to the constitution which repealed the First Amendment. Not gonna happen.

They're old and they're white, ipso facto they must be racist. Still, you GOP-haters owe the "McCain is a RINO" crowd a thank you note for inadvertently helping Obama get elected.

Meanwhile my 90 year old grandmother, who grew up in New York state, was in Tennessee circa 1948, and she sat on the bus. In the back. When she got off, a friend told her why all the blacks were there and the whites were in front. She didn't think about it while it was happening, but when she was told, she was horrified to learn that it was segregated. She is no racist.

This one video affects gays how, other than the fact that over 70% of us bowed at the altar of Obama when they should have been fighting Prop H8? Meanwhile, where in the Constitution does it authorize the federal government to buy out part of a privately held company like General Motors? And where in the Constitution does it authorize the federal government to pay for health insurance? I would genuinely like to see the sections and/or amendments that authorize this as well as any Supreme Court rulings that interpreted the Constitution that way.

    Posted by: Attmay | Aug 27, 2009 3:40:37 PM

  23. Amen Attmay! That's all that needs to be said.

    Posted by: RB | Aug 27, 2009 7:11:28 PM

  24. "And where in the Constitution does it authorize the federal government to pay for health insurance?"

Does that mean you consider Medicare unconstitutional?

Is everyone in the town hall meeting racist? Very likely not. But much of the anger spewing out of people at these town hall meetings (as at the McCain/Palin rallies before the election) has little to do with health care and a lot to do with the fact that a right wingnut minority in this country cannot accept that Obama, a black man, is president.

So the valid debate about health care gets lost while idiots wave around guns and yell Nazi and hold up fake birth certificates on YouTube. And the kind of anger that's being directed at Obama--cheerled by the Becks and Limbaughs and Hannitys and Palins of the world--is the same kind of anger and hatred they have towards us: irrational.

    Posted by: Ernie | Aug 27, 2009 8:25:44 PM

  25. YES Ernie you said it best!
    @ ATTMAY..
Where does it say in the Constitution that us FAGS can get married? I have no problem with our gov't helping AMERICAN companies, or Americans for that matter because that is who works for them AMERICANS.

And it's too bad a queen like you have a problem with the gov't helping Americans with health care when they are a part of the "HAVE NOTS" presently. Are you one of these rich girls who seems to see it as it's only me, mines, mines and none for you?

    Think about it girl,
That's what the other side is telling us Gays INCLUDING GRAMPS AND GRANDMA

    NO NO NO for you.

And another thing DEBUBNK the fucking 70% story we all know that was NOT the number okay.

And I don't nor any other African American owe McInsane anything.
    And I do mean NOTHING!

FUCK HIM The town hall nuts too!
