Glee's Football Team Does Single Ladies
For reasons more than this camp number, last night's episode of Glee was the best of the season so far. Bravo.
Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

This show is just crazy good and the coming out scene to his dad was handled just right.

It really was an amazing episode.

I love me some Glee. But can we PLEASE put the Single Ladies dance routines to bed? PLEASE!!
Posted by: Dak | Sep 24, 2009 8:05:15 AM
I officially HATE Glee now. I went to bed with that f***in' song running through my head and it's still there this morning!
Although, I admit I did love the coming out scene and agree it was handled correctly. I also like how the football team is coming to accept a gay player among them.

Beyonce is somewhere laughing...all the way to the bank! Go Glee, Go Queen B!!!

Loved it! I gotta start watching this show.

Please also post his coming out to his father.

I laughed until I cried through the entire episode! Simply brilliant television! Jane Lynch is finally getting the recognition she has deserved.

I am typically dead inside, but the dad scene increased my heart rate for about 2 seconds. Great stuff.

Positively the best scene from any show. Sexy, funny, and the gay guy helps the team win. Reminds me of the Maori dance that's done before the soccer game.

@Woodroad34; yeah this is prob the American way of a MAORI dance. They should have this as a tradition in all football games...hahah
Best episode EVER!

This scene honestly brought me to tears. By inserting this decidedly feminine display that is evocative of how coming out is liberating, they have highlighted the silly nature of the football ritual.

"Can I pee first?" HA HA

That was magical. Hell, even the reviewings make me cry. Great episode.

I'm So glad to know that I wasn't the only one who was moved to tears by so many of the mini dramas going on in this one scene. Is America watching this? I know I was at a board meeting last night that had to be wrapped up because everyone wanted to get home for GLEE and REFUSED to watch it later on HULU, but, what are the ratings like? This show is not only brilliant, it's my life at Edgewood High School in good ole West Covina Cali! I LOVE THIS SHOW!

i don't know why this show makes me feel so good and happy inside. it really is a joy to watch.

I too have cried w/ the last two episodes of this little guy's coming out stories but pls can we just knock off the whole older gay man as predator line? Not only w/ the fired and now hired back "big gay Al" character but of the unknown teacher in the lunch room learing at the glee instructor? And pls put this overrated dance routine to rest, thanks!
BTW - hope that a more macho football player is motivated to come out and maybe date the little flaming guy. Also Ryan Murphy - pls more shirtlessness from the cougar hunter. :)

This show plays off negative stereotypes like no one's business.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: FUCK "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". I HATE THAT GODDAMN SONG.
Posted by: Alex Sarmiento | Sep 24, 2009 6:04:37 PM
Wow. That was the most subversive thing I've ever seen on television.

PSGOODGUY is right. So many shows make you feel stupid after you watch them and realize "I just sat through that awful shit for 30 minutes of my life?"
This show does the exact opposite. I'm happier after watching it.

I don't get it. What was the point of doing the dance? Was it supposed to distract the other team? It didn't seem like they were that thrown off by it.
Sorry, I'm not trying to be obtuse, and I didn't see the whole episode, so I don't know what the build up was.
Posted by: Harrison | Sep 24, 2009 7:08:48 PM
Yes, I suppose the point of the dance was to distract te other team (nevermind that they would have gotten a delay of game penalty right quick). Let's not look too deeply for realism in the football. Oh. Jane Lynch is brilliant.
Posted by: jmg | Sep 24, 2009 7:56:27 PM
Hahaha, thanks JMG. I was very confused because the other team seemed pretty much ready to go as soon as the Single Lades dance was over and they snapped the ball. Time for some suspension of disbelief in Harrison's house!
