  9. This whole family needs to jump on a stupid balloon and disappear from the face of the earth... for real.

  12. You can tell that the dad's fake tantrum is so put on. If you watch online one of the Wife Swap episodes he throws a few fake tantrums as well. Was the point of this to see if the balloon got off the ground but would be tethered so it didn't float away, but it obviously did?

  13. Not to be a spoiler, since I have a lot of suspicions about this case too, but is there any proof this balloon launch was yesterday's? It seems a little odd they'd risk criminal charges by letting a home video like this go out if it incriminated them. But they could be just that crazy.

  14. I couldn't believe this was breaking news when it happened...Now I see that the family planned it to happen this way.

  17. Why in the world didn't he check the attic and / or the "entire house" before calling 911? the American taxpayer ended up paying for his childish distraction and immature hobby..give me a break!!

  19. I hate this whole shitfest and appreciate America's 15-minute attention span. Next week, it'll be back to the Gosselins.

Also, this really doesn't cost the tax-payer anything. All those policemen and firemen are getting paid regardless, so let them chase a damn balloon, earn their keep when nothing's going on, and more importantly, put on a 2-hour show during a slow newsday, lol.

  20. Seriously, child protective needs to rescue these kids.

  21. I think this was originally considered "breaking" news because there was speculation the child was in a basket attached to the balloon. In fact, the local airport was even shutdown temporarily at one point. If this is proven to be a hoax, then all involved are well-deserving of prosecution.

  22. This does cost the taxpayers since extra units were called out, including airplanes and helicopters to follow along. Plus if you lived in this area and had an emergency there was probably a time delay due to the fact that everyone was tied up with this. Glad to hear they are planning on charging the father.
