Wow! That subway train full of apples! How did they do that?

The ultimate food waster in NYC is the Carnegie Deli, where they must throw out a TON of un-eaten meat every day because they pile an insane mountain of meat on customers’ plates, and no one can eat more than 10% of it. It’s all just thrown away. Shameful.

  2. TANK says

How did they do that? Well, they put one apple in at each stop for a while, and it built up. Aaaaaaand, BAM! People just keep moving away from the apples as they accrued.

  3. Sushi says

Kwanten was kind of a douche on Chelsea Lately. Totally humorless.
Just a tip Ry: if you want to be thought of as more than “just a body” then stop taking off your clothes every 5 minutes when you are on screen.

I love City Harvest, and think every city in America should have a similar food-rescue organization. If you live in New York and have some of your daytime hours free, volunteering in a City Harvest truck is an awesome way to contribute to a worthwhile charity *and* see behind-the-scenes of all sides of the town, from the insides of kitchens at some of the city’s most exclusive restaurants to shelters, missions, and hospitals all over the boroughs. However, does anyone else think that this video, while cool-looking, represents an awful waste of food itself? That many apples could feed a lot of children.

  5. Thomasina says

@Toby: I’m really glad to hear that; otherwise, the PSA seemed to me to represent the antithesis of what City Harvest stands for. However, I am sure that I am not the only one who will see it without knowing your behind-the-scenes production information and make the same mistake I did.
