Witness immunity sought for gay service members at "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" hearings. Alcee Hastings: "How can there be anything more important than a gay member of the service having the right to testify before the Armed Services Committee of the Congress that he is under the aegis of. But if they come and testify, that testimony could be used against them under 'don't ask, don't tell.' In my judgment, it's just a question of fairness."

  1. Can I ask frankly -- what are the chances that New Jersey pass gay marriage next week, and if they are slim, then why are they going to a vote if they don't have the votes?

  2. I doubt it will pass, but if we wait, it's definitely at least four years, since Christie has promised to veto. Plus we need to get the politicians on record so we know whom to target next time.

  3. They're very slim, grego, especially when you consider all of the guidos (e.g., knights of columbus) who are fighting against it. AH, guidos....in jersey...they're a great bunch of something...keep those fists pumping in the air like you just don't care...LOL!

  5. From Pittsburgh City Paper on Pegasus's closing...

As Pegasus owner Scott Noxon prepares to close this Downtown landmark gay bar on Dec. 6, his fondest memories still seem to be from the time he was just a customer. In 1984, Noxon came out -- in both senses -- for the first time to Pegasus, just four years after it opened.

After work, he recalls, you could see political figures "and the heads of the largest corporations in suits meeting here.

"Nobody discussed who they saw here," he adds, sitting in a back office whose walls are still covered with signed souvenirs from American Idol contestants, adult-film stars, drag performers and Gov. Ed Rendell. "It's always been known as a safe place."

Yeah when I think of what I went through as a gay person in that giant fucking closet because there were so many cowards, it really brings a fucking tear to my eye... NOT!

    Good riddance.

  6. I practically grew up at Peggy Sue's. I loved that place in the early days. Zack's, Traveler's, Peggy Sue's and the Upstage. Sad how time marches on and the old things fall by the wayside.
