New PAC to Aggressively Target Anti-Gay NY State Senators

Tim Gill and some other well-funded advocates have funded a political action committee, Fight Back New York, that plans to aggressively remove New York State senators who have opposed marriage equality, the NYT reports.

Monserrate The first target is Hiram Monseratte (perhaps a little easier target than some others, given his felony conviction):

"The committee will start going after Mr. Monserrate, who was convicted of assaulting his female companion in a confrontation that left her requiring more than 20 stitches, by mailing fliers this week to voters in his district. The flier shows still frames of a surveillance video that shows him dragging his companion, Karla Giraldo, through the hallway of his apartment building in Jackson Heights, Queens. He was acquitted of a felony assault charge by a judge, who convicted him of misdemeanor assault...In the three weeks that remain before the election, Fight Back New York expects to send out at least five different fliers, upwards of 100,000 pieces of mail."

Fight Back New York's website is scheduled to go live tomorrow.

  1. Great news. As well as just focusing on republicans (the whole party is anathema to gay rights on the national level), antigay blue dogs need to be targeted and taken down as they are just as much a stumbling block as the republicans.

Get that battering domestic violence perp out of office!

  2. Finally, a gay rights group hitting our anti-gay foes where they're weakest, rather than pretending we're just two sides having a reasonable debate. These political creatures that promote themselves with bigotry won't stop until we make it clear that we'll relentlessly publicize whatever it is they're using their anti-gay song-and-dance as a smokescreen for; it's always something.

So every time they start coming after us, we should change the conversation back to exactly what they don't want people talking about. Burn 'em enough and they'll start finding some other group to conveniently scapegoat. Good job, Fight Back New York.

  3. Monserrate is a delusional freak who was unfortunately my senator. He will run again on March 16 in my district in the special election. If he plays his cards right with the locals he will get reelected on name recognition alone

  5. Monserrate's was a misdemeanor conviction, not a felony. He was sentenced to parole, which evidently he has consistently violated.

  13. Here's the website, for those who want to get involved and do something about the betrayal we suffered.

Some of the senators who betrayed us did so maliciously. These were not senators from some ultra-conservative upstate district, who felt compelled to represent their district's views. No, some of these people were from New York City. Monserratte, Addabo, Krueger - all from Brooklyn and Queens. Another, Onorato, has already announced his retirement. They all must go.
