Uganda 'Kill the Gays' Bill Author to Be Banned from UK if It Passes

Should Ugandan MP David Bahati's anti-homosexuality bill pass parliament there, Bahati will be banned from entering the UK:

David_bahati "Civil servants in the Foreign Office, the Department for International Development and the Borders Agency are drawing up plans to block the visa of born-again Christian MP David Bahati if he does not drop legislation that would see consenting adults who have gay sex imprisoned for life and impose the death penalty on those with HIV – which will be called 'aggravated homosexuality'...One senior British government source said the issue could turn into a 'major diplomatic incident if the Ugandans do not back down'. President Barack Obama has already described the legislation as odious. The British government's views have been conveyed to Uganda but officials have not received a clear sense of whether the legislature will pass the bill into law. Ugandan government officials appear to be using stalling tactics, suggesting it will not come to a vote until 2011, deflecting pressure from a government that could change in the forthcoming general election."

  1. Bravo! We should also discontinue any foreign aid or charity relief efforts to Uganda as well if this passes.

  2. An encouraging development. It's the "stalling tactics" that interest me. So much of the earlier reporting on this bill had the tone of "this law is hurtling towards inevitable passage." Looks like saner, and probably more powerful, officials are at least trying to slow it down. Good to know.

  3. How about a "KILL THE UGLY UGANDA ASS-HOLE WITH A SCAR ON HIS FOREHEAD" bill?!!!

  4. Why are so many of these African countries always looking to perpetrate some kind of genocide or persecution on some minority group? You'd think gays wouldn't even be on the radar screen given all the serious political and economic issues most of these countries have.

Talk about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

  5. If they are not killing some minority group, selling each other into slavery, raping children, stealing stuff then they are pleading poverty while they sit on their fat backsides. It's time the World woke up to this reality and stopped allowing these monsters into civilized world forums. Maybe when the fancy high life stops they might think a little more clearly. In the meantime nail this nasty Christian bigot.

  7. Since Uganda is home to the mountain gorilla, why don't they give the death penalty to those who poach this endangered species--instead of trying to make Ugandan gays another one?

  8. I don't think many of you understand the mentality behind this bill. This isn't something you can reason with, or expose the flaws in their arguments and beliefs. This is something you force to your will at gunpoint. SUSPEND AID TO THAT COUNTRY.

  9. Similarly, those in africa who rape little girls because they think that sex with girls will cure them of aids...a bullet to the brain is the only way to get that to stop.

  10. @ new jersey girl..........yes the irony wasn't lost on me.... but hell girl you know that was born and lived in Africa for 45 years and it is just so true......as unfortunate as it may seem

  11. We can thank the Dominionists members of our own Congress for this monstrosity, especially the members of C Street and their far right supporters in the fundie movement. I applaud the UK for taking this bold step. This move on the part of the UK is just as satisfying as the barring of Michael Savage from their country because of his hate speech.

  14. "This is something you force to your will at gunpoint. SUSPEND AID TO THAT COUNTRY."
I agree, Tank. I've been shouting that at the top of my lungs ever since I first heard about this bill all that time ago.

Would you mind if I posted your comments in their entirety on my Tumblr?

  15. I have nothing against the bill as I consider them freaks. The problem is that africa has enough killing going on that no one would know if they just left tnings as they are
